Mpeg 2 video preview in purple

icaptcrunch wrote on 12/17/2013, 12:01 AM

I've brought movie clips into MEP 13 in .wmv and .mpeg 2 formats.  And for some reason the mpeg 2 videos show up in purple in the preview window.  The thumbnail at the bottom is the correct color as well as when previewing the file just prior to uploading from the search box.  It also exports in the correct color.  But I can't edit my movies with the color off like that.  I have checked the 2D/3D settings and those are correct: it is in 2D mode.  Video effects are turned off as well.  There are no changes that I'm doing to make it that color, because It's doing this to files as soon as they are brought up on the screen.

Side note.  I made 4 sample files 5 min each.  Same clip.  Two are .wmv and 2 are mpeg2.  When I bring in the mpeg2 clips it's instant.  If I bring in the .wmv clips I have to wait a bit for them to import.

I would try changing the Display Mode. Please go to File - Settings - Program Settings and then to the tab Display Options. Under Preview in Arranger, then please try setting the Video Mode to Compatibility mode.

Ok, that did fix the problem, but. 1. Why should I have to run some type of compatibility mode to work with videos that the program is listed as being able to process?  2. What is the draw back to running compatibility mode as opposed to standard mode. and 3. Is this the expected fix or a work around?  I have to change the settings for this each time I start the program.

Thanks for your help.
