MPEG 4 activating unsuccessful

I am running Magix movie edit pro 14.
I have recently purchased a new computer. It runs windows 8 and I am the administrator. I purchased the mpeg4 activation. When I go to install the codec using the activation code I get this response.
"Activation unsuccessful. If you are using the program as a guest, please repeat the activation procedure with administrator rights."
I am currently the administrator and actually right clicked the program and ran as administrator. Any clues as to what I need to do to install the activation. thank you.

Do you mean Movie Edit Pro (MEP) 14 or 2014?

If MEP 14 then this version is not compatible with Windows 8, while it will install some functions will not work - this may include the issue you are having - I would recommedn you upgrade to a Windows 8 compatible version..

If you mean MEP 2014 then please use this version number and not abbreviate it to 14 - this will avoid confusion over which version of the software we are taliking about.

If it is MEP 2014 which version do you have Basic, Plus or Premium?

If Plus or Premium the MP4 activation is included with the software and is accessed through Help, Install extra programs, you only have to buy for the Basic version.

Check that your Antivirus program is not stopping the activation process or your Firewall software is not stopping MEP accessing the Internet.
