mpeg4 export fails in Movie Edit Pro 2013

Wiesiek wrote on 2/10/2013, 8:52 PM

Hello! I am getting following error message from MEP when attempting to encode anything into mpeg4 format:

"MPEG-4 export moduel: Export was cancelled due to an unknown error."

I did re-install program twice just for that reason witout any luck. Exporting to other formats are problem free.

Can someone offer some help on this?

My machine is new built with core5 machine 8gb RAM and Nvidia graphics running win7- x64 ultimate.

Thank you.

Hi,

2013 is buggy in this area.

Try changing display mode:

Or for better quality: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4019461/MEP2013-DisplaySettings-Changed.jpg

And experiment with these settings:

There have been several threads about the issues with HW Acceleration and GPU. One long one if you're interested is this:

Hi

I have found that the setting which causes this problem for me is in the Export as mp4 dialog box - with Hardware Acceleration turned on in the program settings turn off the setting Calculate video effects on GPU option in the export.burn dialog?

See this image

There appears to be an issue with the Main Concept mp4 encoder and using the GPU option.

"Thanks for any helpful hints regarding both  possibly related problems!"

Did you try the suggestions already made and follow up those in the thread I referenced?

Hi

AVC-Exportmodule: The GPU-Encoder could not be initialized"

Of course Surround encoder has been succesfully registered online at first  attempt to use it.

These are not the same thing - the GPU encoder is for video and relates to using graphics cards processor (GPU) to do the rendering - this can be faster than using the CPU depending on the processor and the graphics card spec.

Sourround sound encoder is as it says - it is for the audio.

But as soon as selected profile  has mp4 tag, that makes it impossible to export.

I have already said below that there is a problem with the mp4 encoder -  have you systematically tested with the options turned off as has been suggested by Terry and myself?

Also which model is your graphics card?

Hello!

Thanks again for quick reply.

As for all the suggested variants - answer is: yes, i did try them all in various combinations, not once but multiple times, and even completely re-installed whole  MEP2013 package again to no avail.

My graphics card is Nvidia  Geforce GTX650.

I am monitoring this thread constantly searching and trying all sugestions, with no luck so far.

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for coming back and clearing up my 'confusion' over whether you had tried all combination of settings.

Which version of the NVidia graphics drivers do you have installed?

Mine are 310.90-WHQL.

Hi, yes, it is 310.90 as well.

I found rthe answer. my BD player recorderd OK  and I was able to play them quite sucessfully , until I changed by system and Magix Movie Edit Pro 2014 to  64 bit. Then my writer went through all the encoding , but as soon as the the writing began, errors started occured. Contact you writer manufacturer. Mine was replaced with 64bit firmware. Good old Samsung a Brilliant company.

Same problem here (AVC-Exportmodule: The GPU-Encoder could not be initialized)

I´m using MEP Premium (Win10, nVidia GTX970 with driver 378.49).

Details of my config on image (print screen) below:

Hi Yamane

Best to start a new post and not to reopen 4 year old posts especially as you are not referring to the same MEP version nor the same error message.

The reason you are seeing the error message is because you are trying to use the Main Concept encoder with CUDA HW Acceleration and a modern Nvidia GPU. As you can see from your bottom right screen shot element the MC version is 5 years old and this is because Magix no longer develops it's HW encoding in conjunction with MC and is focussing on the Intel HW encoder and codecs and QuickSync.

If you have the "HWA for export if possible"  and choose the MC codec in the Program Settings, it will try to use the CUDA option as in your MPEG4 Export ScrShot and will fail as there is no interface with the CUDA hardware on Nvidia cards post GTX5xx series GPU's.

If you want to use acceleration with MC you must go into your Advanced Video export settings in your top right ScrS. and deselect "Auto" and select "Quiksync" instead. This will use the Quicksync HW encoder in your Intel with the MC codec and is very fast. If you do not see the Quicksync option there to select you will need to make sure your iGPU (Intel HD graphics) is enabled and connected to a monitor input.

See this post for more details: https://www.magix.info/uk/forum/alpha-channel-hardware-acceleration--1189384/

The other option once you are sure your Intel GPU is active is to just select the "Intel (the default) codec for Import/Export" in the Program settings and Quiksync will be used with HWA if selected in the Intel MPEG4 export settings window. This is also very fast and good quality on the balanced (default) setting.
