At first, Movie Edit Pro 15 plus had no trouble reading AVCHD files, but suddenly, the error message appears when attempting to do so now: The file format cannot be read. I have Windows 7 64 bit.
The correct codecs were installed when I first installed the program. Should I reinstall the program?
The solution suggested by Magix support is to open the Program Settings (under File), and uncheck "acceleration for high-resolution MPEG files" under the Display options tab. This works for me in version 16 which I am now using. I also have Hardware acceleration (Direct 3D) enabled.
I tried everything I could with the settings and while I could view the movie using VLC video player, Magix would not import it. I ended up downloading the following converter after a quick check to see if anyone was reporting this program as containing adware, spyware, etc.
It worked good. I converted to an AVI file which is what I normally am working with anyway. I'm guessing from what I read it was a codec problem, but I have no idea how to find the correct codec and install it, so this seemed like the best choice. Hope this helps someone else.
