Hi

What is the source that created these mpg files.

Use MediaInfo to analyse one of the files and post the results from the Text view .

Thanks

Hi

What is the source of the MPG files ie are they from eg:

  1. HD DVD disc
  2. Screen capture software
  3. Animation software such as Maya or Blender
  4. Mobile phone
  5. Downloaded video file

or what?

What you are seeing is typical copyright protection scrambling the content, however there may be other factors depending on the source of the video.

The aspect ratio of the video is odd at approx 2:1 - are you getting any message when you drag one of these videos to the timeline?

Thanks John,

The video is the output from an open source point cloud viewing application (Cloud Compare) the videos look fine in other MPG viewing apps, Media Player, my iphone, andriod etc. it's only MAGIX that displays them like this and I get no message from MAGIX on import, just the scrambled display. However I found a workaround by exporting the videos as MP4 instead, but its going to take me ages as as I have loads to re-export.
