Neat Video Use

I'm a Neat Video convert, thanks to a post some time back from one of you great people.

I do have a niggle though and am interested if others have the same issue.

To apply the effect, I highlight the video object, place the Play marker where I want the analysis to occur, then click "Reduce Noise v5". Neat Video then jumps to some other part of the clip. If I then close Neat Video (by clicking Progressive or Interlace, then Cancel) and redo the procedure, Neat Video will now display the frame where I put the the Play marker in the first place.

Do others have the same problem or is there a way of making Neat Video "stick" with the frame that I have the Play marker on the first time round, instead of having to repeat the procedure?

Hi Alwyn

I do not see the timeline cursor jumping in MEP 2021 v 20.0.1.80, the NV interface opens immediately and shows ± 5 frames centred on where the timeline cursor is.

@browj2 My pleasure, JCB. Nothing like a reformat to fix all ills. I'm thinking of upgrading (after I've got my head around these confounded graphics cards "recommendations" for MEP 😂) and the thing I'm looking forward to is a nice, clean, fast uncluttered operating system. Is there something wrong with me???

Nope - I am the same one, a clean tidy computer makes life so much easier than having to deal with all sorts of software that insists on running at start-up of and puts a bunch of 'listeners' waiting for you to plug something in. This is one of the reasons I purchased the Pro version of Revo Uninstaller, install a program with it and it uninstalls as clean as a whistle.

Just before you consider a full OS reinstall, are you aware that M$ has changed its previously-much hyped policy and that Windows 10 is NOT actually going to be the "last release" of that OS and that Windows 11 is almost certainly going to be formally announced later this week??? M$ have already announced that support for Win 10 will end in 2025.

So, within the next year or so we might all be faced with the prospect of having to install a new OS and programs!!!! 😱😱😱

From what I have seen, read and heard Windows 11 will be a free upgrade from Win 10 for valid licence holders, the latest news indicates Windows 7 and 8 users may get a free upgrade or reduced price.

There is nothing to indicate new programs will be needed, if it runs on 10 it will run on 11, however older legacy programs may be killed off as some were with Windows 10.

Expect a load of bloatware, widgets, apps etc, a pretty new interface with wizzie effects and other unnecessary features and functions the we may want to turn off permanently. It is reportedly more stable than Win 10 (?)

As usual, I don't like the look of it. 😂

There are not many right click options and altering settings gets even further buried in layers. It's supposed to be leaner and more optimized for the newer processors. Maybe VPX will then work flawlessly with it! 😉

Maybe Win 10 will not be able to cope with the newer pc specs coming out. DDR5, faster and more express lanes etc. I don't think it is because of security concerns. But yes, we will all soon need new computers, new cars, and possibly a new bank account to pay for it all.

Yes, and I have a dislike for un-installable apps, features, gimmicks and unnecessary over hyped bloatware. There should be an emoticon for a soap box!

That would require a 'Newton moment' and is unlikely given the market dominance and penetration into the commercial world.

Windoze 10 version 21H1 has just been released and with support for 10 stopping only in 2025, I'm going to hang around with 10 until then to change, methinks. With Openshell, I don't mind it, apart from being unable to rename Quick Access items.

I'll let you new-adopters sort out the bugs! 👐
