Need full file for version Pro Plus 17.0.1.128 UDP

JulesJH wrote on 11/28/2017, 6:43 AM

Hello, I need to get the full installer for v17.0.1.128 UDP. I updated to a later version via the program (17.0.1.148), but titling now doesn't work properly. I've had issues with this for some considerable time, and even bought the Premium version but got a refund due to the same issues. Now, the same bug is reintroduced into Pro Plus...

I did a system restore, but supposedly the Magix files are corrupted so it doesn't work...

I need to reinstall to carry on with my work. Where do I get the file?

Hi,

From the Magix site or from your account that you access through Magix.com site. You use the installation file, like the trial version, activate it, and then update to the latest patch.

Hi, welcome to the Magix forums.

First, I assume from your post that you, like most of us, acquired version 17.x.x installer via download, and not through receiving a physical DVD? If so, do you still have that download manager/installer saved somewhere on your computer? I don't think the "full installer" will be available anywhere as a discrete file, unless you have the DVD version.

So, you may need to consider whether a complete uninstall and reinstall, perhaps following the guidance in this tutorial, might be worth considering? (If you no longer have the set up file you can always download the "Trial Version" from this page; your serial number will allow you to fully install whichever version you have paid for.) However, assuming the installer installs the "original" release of MEP 2018, you will then need to carefully update to whichever version you believe restores the functionality you have lost with version 17.0.1.148.

However, before you undertake such a drastic action, you might wish to tell us what, exactly, no longer works for you following the update to the latest version. Also, please give us a lot more information about your computer; this post will help you to know what info we need.

Jeff

P.S. I see @browj2 has posted whilst I was typing.

John,

Since the OP clearly wants to revert to an earlier version, does the process of rerunning the installer actually achieve this, or does it merely "repair" the installation, whilst leaving it at the latest version?

Thanks guys,

A generic reply:

Unfortunately, my account does not show earlier versions, only supplies the installer, which I presume will download the latest version?

My problem has been that after the version mentioned above, the shadow effects to titles do not appear correctly. I.e. half of it might show on one occasion, on another no shadow at all, or even just little segments on another occasion – all from the same unaltered and never re-saved file! The last version that worked for me is Pro Plus 17.0.1.128 UDP, though I don't know about later versions before Update_17.0.1.148 which is the one currently on offer.

I would be happy to get the update file for this if the full file is not available, so I can update from v16.xxxxx which I do have saved. Failing this, does anyone know if the v17 saved project files are backward compatible to v16? At least I could finish this project...

I'm on Windows 7 64 bit... As I mentioned, the titling works just fine up to version v17.0.1.128 UDP.

Do you mean this applies to all text if you set up the Drop Shadow before entering the text or when editing and adding drop shadow to existing text.

When editing text, eg adding drop shadow, changing colour, font size etc, you highlight/select the text in the Preview monitor display not the small text box in the Title editing dialog.

See the video in this post - although it refers to VPX it is the same for MEP.

Hi John, this applies to drop shadows created within the Title Editor in the Effects tab. I didn't use cut and paste, just keyboard!

The drop shadows appear messed up in later updates.

johnebaker wrote on 11/28/2017, 1:31 PM

Hi

Can you explain in more detail what is 'messed up' as you can see below they are working fine in version 17.0.1.148. - note: I have added a white image behind the title object for clarity.

Drop shadow is a global effect and the Title object needs to be selected to work correctly.

Well, the enclosed images are what I get. The first one is correct. The others are from the same project file, with no saves and no alterations. They are, well, totally unacceptable...

Frankly, I just need the file, so I can get back to a working version.

Agreed that is not good.

As I cannot reproduce this issue and, assuming the download that is available in your My Account, My products on the Magix.com website is the latest version, then I would suggest you raise a ticket here.

I think magix downloads are always the unpatched version so this may help as .128 maybe the first iteration of MEP2018.

One other possibility: check your Documents>Magix Downloads>Installationsmanager folder. It is very possible the full installer is stored there. Purely by chance earlier today I looked at this folder and found the installers for VPX, MEP and MM all still present.

@fishycomics

Hi

. . . . have the product via online my product is valid UNLIMITED, I now go to update I am no longer able to update to the latest patch 17.0.1.128 . . . .

This would suggest you have either re-installed the program, or, you did not update with the available patches - the last patch was 17.0.3.184 - before your Update Service expired. See note below

Once the Update Service has expired you will receive no further updates or upgrades to later versions, additionally if you have to re-install then the program is installed at the version you bought, with no further updates.

See this article 3rd bullet point under the section 'Just some of the advantages'

Note: if you have not done so, browse to the magix.com website and log in with your email address and password using the My Account icon top right of the homepage .

Select My Products, you will then see your registered products, serial number and installer download link, the latter may be a later version update while your Update service was valid.
