New Blue Chroma Key Pro

dan_lachance wrote on 4/28/2022, 11:31 AM

I am using Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium v 19.0.2.58 (UDP3). The built-in chroma key effect doesn't work very well, so I tried to use Chroma Key Pro from New Blue, wich came with the package. Much more adjustements, better results, except for one thing: it affects the new foreground video (the one to wich the effect is applicated). The images freezes for a few frames, it is not fluent at all (1920x1080, 29,97f/s). When I disable the effect, the video works fine. When the Chroma Key pro is enabled, it freezes every few frames.

Info on the PC I am using : Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9400F CPU @ 2.90GHz   2.90 GHz; 16 Gb RAM; WINDOWS 10

Any solution ?

Thanks for all the comments, CubeAce, Gid, and John E Baker

(BTW, my graphic card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT1030). I just don't know how to answer directly to your answers...

I understand Chroma Key pro is very demanding to the system, so I'll try to cut my project in smaller sub-projects, render the files after applying only one effect (Chorma key pro) and use the new exported files in the final project.

Hi Dan.

The more effects or the more demanding an effect is on the system, the more stutters you will get in those sections. You can try reducing the frame rate or quality settings under the blue lightning symbol or try using proxy files or do a preview render in the effected areas.

Smooth playback relies heavily on having a powerful GPU in the system. Even then it is possible to load a project so much even that will struggle with all but the most powerful GPUs.

Another factor is the resolution and frame rate of the clips. The more resolution and the higher the frame rate the more calculations the system has to do in real time.

@dan_lachance Hi, do you have a GPU, ?

As @CubeAce says Chroma Key Pro uses quite a lot of GPU, I had a play with this partly out of curiosity & partly knowing some effects use more GPU & some use more CPU.

this is 1920 x 1080, it spikes when starting, up to 43% on mine

once up n running it drops to 26%

But i've just discovered something, I have a 34" screen, I set MEP to my Saved layout which is decent sized image like in the pics above,

I had no prob playing the 1920 x 1080 media above, playback was smooth, so added the orig 4k 3840 x 2160 copy of that file, playback became stuttery, I was recording the screen, (video Encode in Taskmanager so ignore that in the vid), when i start or stop recording with Nvidia GeForce Experience, MEP auto jumps back to Standard size layout, this has always annoyed me & I have to reset to my Bigger layout when recording the screen,

this time I stopped recording while playback was still going on & playback instantly improved to perfect,

I made a vid,

The point to this @dan_lachance was to show that @ 1920 x 1080 on my PC was using 26% of a 24GB GPU without anything else on the timeline, next to nothing on the CPU, (Intel might be different?) , I know you weren't using 4K 3840 x 2160 but i used it just to stress my more powerful PC so i could get a fairer comparison & my GPU was up to 50%, my PC specs in the Signature at the bottom of this comment,

You can put yours in your signature by going your icon at the top, click it - My Profile, & fill in your Signature with your Magix version, Windows version & system specs, full name of CPU, GPU, & amount of RAM etc. this will then show at the bottom of the comments & will help people help you 👍 thanks.

@dan_lachance

Hi

Your computer specification would appear to be missing a graphics card - what is the make/model and please quote the name/model in full?
