New MEP installed; How do I activate ProDad Mercalli?

Kami_1 wrote on 7/21/2017, 2:37 PM

The new MEP installed and activated okay. After I did the updates, I had to do the activation again.

But the current problem is that even though ProDAD Mercalli 4 is already installed, it wants to be activated. I don't get the submit button when I enter my new MEP number, and doesn't accept the previous ProDad activation code (of course). I couldn't find information about this on the website or the PDF manual.

When I selected Mercalli 2, nothing happens. Is it possible that these two add-ins are showing up on the MEP menu from the previous installation? I don't know how this could happen because the new version installed into the Program Files folder, and the previous version is installed in the Program Files (x86) folder.

Information on this wd. be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Kami

IIRC, Mercalli V4 is a paid for extra. MEP Premium does not include a licence number for it. The licence number is also version specific.

. . . . When I selected Mercalli 2, nothing happens. . . .

Can you be more specific please?

I click on it; it doesn't open. As you see in the s-shot, both Mercalli's appear just as they did in the previous MEP version.

Added later: Following the manual, I found the Mercalli 2 thru the Menu, and this time it worked. I'd still like to know how I can have Mercalli 4 (see screen shot) and not have a way to activate it.

Hi

. . . . and doesn't accept the previous ProDad activation code . . . . I'd still like to know how I can have Mercalli 4 . . . .

If the activation code was for Mercalli V4 in the previous version of MEP, then, although it will be picked up by later versions of MEP, the old activation code will not work because they are version specific.

. . . . I found the Mercalli 2 thru the Menu . . . .

The link you indicated in the image works OK for me, does it work now you have used Mercalli from the menu?

I had replied to this with s-shots, but apparently I hit the wrong button because it isn't here. Without the details I had written: I do have Merc. 2 activated, and I've since noticed that Merc. 4 is included with the MEP Premium version, which I hadn't noticed in the comparison chart. 😠

I posted msgs. to tech support about why Merc. 4 shows up since it can't be used, about a BUG that I had in the previous version and still have, and about the Speed function, which I used a lot for slow motion, but now I can't use it as I had been. Unlike prevous messages, I haven't received one email confirmation of receipt.

Kami, call me frustrated.

What is the difference or can you not do with the Speed function in MEP Premium?

I was able to go slower than .25. I often used .2 and .15, and a couple of times .10. It worked amazingly smoothly.

Also, the dialog box won't accept any number which I type in, something else I'm used to doing. In all other dialog boxes, once the first setting is there, I find it impossible to make changes by typing in the numbers. It seems to take, but when I go to another object then back again, the change I tried to make is reverted to the first entry. (And I find all the slide bars difficult to use.)

You can not go slower/faster than .25 / 4x without unlinking the audio.

Of course not! I did unlink. But that doesn't work in the current MEP version.

Try changing the speed manually as shown below:

Thanks for the s-clip, John. That's how I did it with the previous version, but this version won't accept anything I enter manually. My number entry is ignored, and when I click on the next object then return to the one I tried to change, the number is back to what the software had it set at. I've tried using the other controls, but I still can't get the speed below .25. Kami

Hi Kami

Just to clarify a small but very important point - after entering the value into the box did you press the Enter key ?

I should have made this clear in the video clip.

Hi Kami

You will find that a lot of the dialogs where you can enter values require the Enter key to be pressed to get the value applied.

I have updated the video clip as well.

Hi John. Good to know, and just saw your Update. I wonder why they thought this necessary, after years of not needing Enter. Kami

johnebaker wrote on 7/23/2017, 3:32 PM

Hi Kami

The option has always been there, however the one behaviour that has been removed is that of the Tab key.

In many dialogs, eg Size/Position, the tab key would act as the Enter key and move to the next entry box.

I miss this behaviour as I used it to quickly size and move objects, in particular titles, into an exact position.

Setting one objects position and then using Video Effects, Copy Effects and selecting just the Left and Top options, then pasting the effects into other titles does not work correctly especially if the text is centred and the Tab behaviour at least made it quicker to enter the values.
