New version - - yawn ..

Well, there is again a new version of MEP.  Sadly, it seems that they have run into trouble trying to find some new sensational features to allure people to update. But for some years video editing software has been about as good as it can be. 3D surely did not impress many of us. And who can afford to buy all the hardware today to exploit 4K editing technology ? That wll be many years from now. I am also not at all interested in social media-related technologies, I want to make high quality videos on Blu-Ray, that´s all. That is my opinion, you are welcome to disagree. I am still going to use MEP 17.

Not sure how a video editing software company makes money when the technolgy isn't progressing.

If you had  GoPro 3black you'de be able to use 4k footage because of proxy editing, I suspect there will be a full 30/25p version out soon. Apart from that, though, I agree there aren't many reasons to upgrade.

However, if they decide to call a program 2013, then they are commited to bringing out a new version every year. And if you want all the bugfixes, you'll have to upgrade :-)

What features would you have liked to see?

"What features would you have liked to see ?" -  Well, really hard to say. I just want to make movies myself without any automated tricks. If some of my footage is shit, I don´t expect the editing software to turn it into a masterpiece. No, I just discard it.  Maybe 4K will make a breakthrough in my head, but fortunately not yet (I have just bought Canon HF G25). And if someone needs more than 99 tracks or even 50, then he/she had better go to the psychiatrist.  I have not found too many bugs in MEP, it is very stable. - Well, there is one thing I would put in my wishlist: More flexible, creative options when making menus.

- Thanks, jeffjn, for the kind reply !
