NO AUDIO on any video imported to timeline or even when previewed

2020 MOVIE EDIT PRO PLUS ISSUE - NO AUDIO ON ANY VIDEO FILES

- I have audio on playback (preview) for music files BUT not for video files of any kind (.mp4 , .mov etc.)
- When I drag videos to timeline, still no audio, no audio can even be separated from video file and no audio shows up on the audio timeline meters

Once again....Audio is present for music files, but NOT any video files upon import or preview

Installed all updates, I am a Magix User of Movie Edit pro for 6+ years, so I feel I know the program very well (including making sure all videos are imported to include audio in settings), I just recently purchased this new version...thus said...I have had problems in the past with video files having trouble importing due to needed codecs, but for this new 2020 edition, I simply have no audio being identified or heard from my videos in Magix...Any advice from anyone would be awesome...THANKS!!!

@AOK4LIFE

Hi and welcome to the Movie Edit Pro users forum.

Can I ask what produces the files that do not have audio attached when imported into MEP?

Do they come from a standard Camcorder or DSLR or similar or from a phone?

I ask because some people using video coming from more modern released phones such as iPhones are finding some aspects of their files not being utilized correctly inside MEP. This has been down to the files having variable frame rates rather than constant frame rates.

Ray.

Thanks Ray for the welcome and reply...great question...Videos are coming from some old and some new iphones and even android devices...other video is coming from a laptop camera....al files are .MOV and MP4

-All videos play great in preview and import great to the timelime...simply no audio is present, in fact no audio can even be separated from the video files

- All audio files and music work great

-Videos play great outside of MEP with audio in Quicktime player and VLC players

Hi

As @CubeAce has mentioned mobile device video can have issues when imported in to MEP.

Can you post a MediaInfo analysis, from the Text view, of one of the MOV and MP4 files that do not work.

Try converting some of the files to a different format using a video converter such as Handbrake or MovAvi - I use MovAvi (paid for) and it works with mobile device files.

I assume that when you installed the Quicktime Player you also installed the 'Essentials' part of the package as well - this is required for importing MOV files into MEP.

Added: have you installed any of the 'All-in -one' codec packs? If not do not do so they are not required.

Hey @johnebaker...great input....so I can see the videos play in the preview, drag them fine to the timeline and import them from any folder from my computer...just no audio...I can't even separate the audio from the video in the timeline. Unfortunately, even videos exported from older versions of MEP don't have audio.

- 'All-in -one' codec packs ??? I haven't just because I haven't received any codec errors as in Magix editions past, is there a pack the Magix supplies?

-I tried exporting the video files into other formats using handbrake and still no audio

- as for mediainfo...i'll download the program, but it is so strange...I got on my old version of MEP and all these videos have audio and no problems

@AOK4LIFE

Have you checked your program settings? In particular the one I am pointing to in the image below?

Hi

. . . . - 'All-in -one' codec packs ??? I haven't just because I haven't received any codec errors as in Magix editions past, is there a pack the Magix supplies? . . . .

No, they are from third party suppliers and are definitely not needed for Movie Edit Pro - there have been cases where they also mess up the codecs that Magix does supply with the program.

. . . . I got on my old version of MEP and all these videos have audio and no problems . . . .

What is its full name and version as found under Help, About?

With that comment I am beginning to suspect that a specific codec requires activating - the MediaInfo analyses will tell us what is needed, if any.
