MEP Premium V 20.0.1.65 (UDP3), Windows 10 64bit, AMD Ryzen 5 3600
In MEP all the 4k .MOV files out of my 5d4 have no audio. I have the program set to generate and display half wave forms on import which it does for other files. HD .MOV files have no such issue, just the 4k ones. Had up to date Apple Quicktime installed then tried the Quicktime Alternative recommended on the Magix support page. No change. The files play back with audio fine with other players.

I didn't think to try before, but just opened it with MEP 14.0.0.187 and the audio is there though it chokes on the larger file sizes of longer clips. Which is kind of super frustrating since I upgraded to 20.0.1.65 specifically to avoid that.

I can confirm I am not getting audio with MEP 2021. Plays fine in Windows Film and TV.
Can not get the normal 'Show waveform' to show up with a right mouse click either.

That is a huge amount of data from a 6 second clip.
Looks like a bug then.

Apart from the huge 530Mbps data rate this clip has Chroma Sub sampling of 4.2.2 and uses something that looks like Motion Jpeg compression indicating it is a professional format which MEP can not handle and VPX can - so it is likely the reason that it works correctly in VPX only.
the 5D records the above in 4K but uses MPEG4 AVC with AAC in HD record mode so that is why you are not having problems with HD.

Apologies I went back and checked to find I had Quicktime installed, thought I had removed it last time I was testing MOV files.
After removal of Quicktime and retesting the video file will not import import into MEP 2021.

I think Peter is on to some thing here - I have other 4:2:2 Chroma sub video which will also not import into MEP 2021 without Quicktime.

MEP 19.0.2.58 is playing the Audio but MEP 20.0.1.65 can't?
Both MEP 20.0.1.65 and VPX 11 is using the Magix QuickTime.
So is this by design or a bug?

This is what I get in MEP 2021 v21.0.1.65
I only installed the Quicktime Essentials part of the QT download, as shown below, this contains the decoder and encoder for QT MOV files.
The About for the Essentials is a web/text file unlike the image you have posted - which looks like the QT player

I uninstalled QuickTime. Tried to get the file to open in MEP. MEP told me I had no QuickTime.
So uninstalled.
I think.
Went to QuickTime download and chose your custom install.
Rebooted PC opened MEP, imported file and same result as before. No sound. No Sound track.
Went to control panel. Found and opened QuickTime. App looked as it did before I did the custom install.

Downloaded the trial version of VPX 18.0.1.82, I wasn't aware VPX was a thing until mentioned here and it has color correction features I'm interested in using, but I'm having the same no audio issue as with MEP 2021

The Trial version of VPX is version 12, the latest one. I got the file to play on VPX-11. The same generation as MEP 2020 with Infusion engine one.
I'm still puzzled I can't get Johns' result. I only have the same QT components as John but can't get the file yo play in MEP2021.

There are other differences between this file and most other files on my system as well.
The Icon for the movie does not show a thumbnail in the import preview area in either application and pressing the buttons for expanding or filling the timeline do not work as expected in either program. I'm wondering if John has any Canon cameras and their associated editors on his PC. That may give the Windows System the information needed. For instance My Nikon Software give me the thumbnails in MEP for my cameras Mov. files and displays the thumbnails within MEP.

DSLR - yes, but not used for video, for which I am pure Sony - apart from and old Contour 1080 sportscam which is rarely used.

Did you download anything that allows your PC to recognise the cameras raw files so they can be shown in the thumbnail view in Explorer or do you have a copy of Photoshop elements or similar that has the raw file codec as a part of its program?
For instance, without the Nikon NEF codec on my machine I can't access or edit Nikon NEF files. It could be the same for video files, I'm not sure as I have two Nikon programs on my PC already that contain and share it's codecs with Windows. Those programs can also play my Nikon Video files and trim them.
I know there are similar codecs for Canon Cameras.
I'm just trying to figure out why you can get the file to play sound and I can't in MEP 2021.
I found the QT player as shown above using Control Panel but in apps settings I get the same info as you do.

EDIT:
For me, the test washing machine file works in MEP Premium 18.0.3.261, but not in MEP2021 or VPX12. In both MEP2021 andVPX12, the audio track does not show up. Right-clicking on the object, Audio, gives only Restore original audio; it does nothing.
I would say that this is a bug in MEP2021 and VPX12.

I would guess it needs the serial number for the Digital Photo Professional software - digging deeper for what that codec is for, it appears not to apply here, AFAICS it is for still HDR images (HDR PQ, 10bit colour depth).
