no hardware acceleration

I recently bought a new computer with a Nvidia Geforce 1050 Ti card, but when I use Magix (Movie Edit Pro Premium, version 16) to edit a movie it appears in brackets the message "no hardware acceleration".

I checked similar posts from other users before, but I could not solve the issue. I spoke with the Nvidia assistance, but they suggested (after changing a few settings in the Nvidia panel anyway) it may a program specific issue.

my computer is a i3-7100 with 8gb RAM, 120 SSD, Geforce 1050 ti, monitor AOC 27 inches connected by Display Port

I tried to export a few movies (mp4 format), but I am still unable to see the hardware acceleration working, despite I checked it both in the "settings" (under File) and in the export menu when I actually try to export each movie.

What can it be?

You need to use the Intel HD630 GPU in your i7 to do the Hardware acceleration. Make sure it is enabled and visible in your Windows Control Panel. You may need to plug the output on your motherboard into a monitor to enable it if you only have the Nvidia card plugged in. The second monitor input on your main monitor will be sufficient for this. The Geforce GPU is not suitable for HW export.

When you export using the default (Intel) codec make sure that the Hardware acceleration is ticked in the advanced export settings.

I am a bit perplexed though. I bought the Geforce 1050 ti for doing the video editing, and you tell me that I have to use the intel HD630 for doing the job? Then I am unclear what I bought the Nvidia for...:-/

so, you mean I should connect the HD630 to the monitor (how, with the HDMI?)? but then I will have two cards connected to the same monitor, does it work?

Yes, yes and yes. It is sufficient it is connected to a second input. The main input can continue to display the output of your Geforce card.

The Nvidia will still help HW acceleration of the timeline preview if it is selected in the Program Settings>Display Options > Preview in the arranger. This setting will not affect HW Acceleration during Export.

ok I did it. I installed the drivers for the intel HD630, I connected the card to the HDMI port, and then I tried to run the editing program. Now the hardware acceleration works, and it is significantly faster than before (like, less than half the time). However, I wonder: which card is it now the editing program using? (the display I am using is connected to the Nvidia on the DP port).

A few issues anyway:

1) the computer seems to be significantly slower than before, after I installed the HD630 drivers. is it normal?

2) some programs run on the Display port (NVIDIA) display, some others on the HDMI (HD630) display. For example, in order to use Chrome I had to move to the HDMI connection.

now I have the hardware acceleration, but these other issues (pc speed etc) are bothering me. what settings do I need to change?

Good to see you got HWA working and yes it works very well.

1. How are you judging this slow down, and no it is not normal nor have I heard of this happening.

2. Are you running 2 monitors or just switching inputs on the monitor? Maybe send a screenshot of the Windows (or Nvidia) Display properties that shows monitors configuration. Not quite sure what you mean by programs having to run on a particular output? If you have 2 x monitors it would be just a matter of dragging to the monitor it best displays on.
