No preview of selected video

After installing the movie edit pro plus 16 hd whenever I select a file which I would like to work on there is no preview in the video or picture frame???

Can anyone give some advice ???

What format is the video in, perhaps the program cannot read that file.

If you load the video without previewing, does it load? If yes, does it playback?
