No sound during playback

I am re-submitting this query as I am not sure if it was posted correctly. I use Magix Movie Edit Pro 2015. I have not used it for some time but when I started using it again I noticed there was no sound on any of the clips during playback. I thought that this may have been due to some setting and thought that there would be sound if I burned the project to disk. I tried the disk and this was silent too. There was sound on my older projects and I decided to open these but to my amazement these are now silent. Please advise.

@william-mosley

If the projects are using mts files on the timeline, and you are on Windows 10, then there is a known issue caused by Windows 10 update - the fix is here.

Note: MEP must be closed before running the patch and the patch needs extracting from the zip file to a folder, then browse to that folder and double click the DD_Win10_fix.exe file to run the patch and accept the prompts as required.

I have the no audio problem with mts files using MEP 2015. When I run the patch I get the following popup message - Heading --> "Dolby Digital Windows 10 fix" Message test --> "No relevant product could be successfully located and patched on this system". I get the same result running as Administrator.

As a temporary work around to my problem until either Magix or Microsoft sort out the no sound issue I've found the following solution. I installed the free video editor ShotCut. I load my mts files as a project in it and export them as an MP4 file. MEP 15 has no problem with sound on MP4 files. So I can then edit, add chapter markers, and write DVD's (which ShotCut can't do). It's a bit clumsy but it achieves the result until either Magix or Microsoft sort out the no sound issue.
