No sound in Magix video edit pro 2014 plus

I am running Magix video edit pro 2014 plus trial on my windows 8.1 operating system. When I import a video it plays no sounds in the program. When I record a voice over that does not play sound in the program either. Both my microphone, (Logitech Webcam) and speakers are working perfectly. I also know that the voice recording I record in the program does work as I can play it back when I look for it on the hard drive.

The sound just doesn't work in the program when I play the video. I've right clicked all kinds of things to see if I'm missing something, but I'm not coming up with it and am ready to quit and look for a different solution. (I've also checked to see the program is recognizing the correct devices and it is so I'm totally lost on what this might be).

Since this is Win 8 (of which I have no experience) I can't be certain of this but, assuming you are using the on-board sound, i.e. not a separate sound card or external audio interface, you have to ensure that the sample frequency of your sound device matches what MEP is expecting, almost certainly 48kHz.

My suspicion is that yours is set to 44.1kHz (this seem to be Microsoft's idea of what the default should be, presumably because most users will want to play CDs, which need that frequency.) As a result, any program requiring a different frequency will not produce audio output unless that frequency is changed.

So, you need to find out how to check and, if necessary change, the sample frequency your computer is set to. I know how to do this in Win 7 but not in Win 8; it may be the same procedure but I think it would be better if someone running that OS was able to give you more specific guidance.
