Hi

We need more information:

Windows version and is it up to date?  Press and hold down the Windows key and the R key - in the dialog that opens type in winver and press enter.
Software full name and version number - as found under Help, About . . .

Also the video file formats being imported please use MediaInfo to analyse a problem clip and post the results from the Text view in MediaInfo

Also add any other information you think may be relevant.

I haven't done a movie in a while. I imported the movie into Movie Edit Pro 2015, but when I do, there is no sound.

MEP 2015... I am not really sure of the version. Was that a 2015 version?

The patch is very picky. Your only hope may be get the latest version if the trick of trying to get MP4 (I think) activated does not work.

From my previous post:

. . . . use MediaInfo to analyse a problem clip and post the results from the Text view in MediaInfo . . . .

MediaInfo is used to analyse the video clip and provide technical data about it.

As the fix pointed to by wongck did not find a product that would suggest that the fix is not for MEP 2015.

I would suggest you raise a support ticket here.

@sensfan

Hi

After installing MediaInfo, run the program and set the following option in the programs Options, Preferences if it not already set.

Close MediaInfo - the program is now set up to make analysis easier.

To analyse a video file, use Windows Explorer - browse to the folder containing the video files and right click on one of the video files to open the options menu - select the MediaInfo option as shown below

A new window will open with the results of the analysis.

To post these in the forum you need to change the view to Text as shown below

You can then select all the text, copy it and paste it into a comment in the forum.

There is no need to uninstall the program - it takes up very little disc space and is very useful if you have future issues with video or audio and are asked to post the data of the video or audio.

Hi. I'm having similar issues to a lot of people with the audio off MTS and MP4 files I am trying to edit in Magix.

Currently, I am Win10 Ver 1803, and MEPPremium Ver 17.0.3.184(UDP3), and having tried all of the tips mentioned on the forums, I still cannot find a way to get the audio to work. To add insult to injury, I'm now getting a reminder that my 'Premium' will expire at the end of August and would I like to renew it for £55. With the current situation not being easily resolved, I can't think of a good reason to!

Anyone got any ideas?

Many thanks, Garry

You can also rollback to the older version of Windows 10 AND then postpone the update. That's what I did when I waited for a fix. You may have to think real hard about this, as in your case the fix did not work and it may mean that your Windows may not be updated for a long time.

Thanks for the detailed information - looks like a standard AVCHD video clip - possibly from a Sony camera.

Can you try the following:

Start a new project, check that Import video with sound option in the Program settings (press the Y key) is checked.

Add the video clip to the timeline then press Ctrl + H then Shift + E

Right click the Audio portion of the video clip and select Normalize

Do you see any peaks like this in the audio portion

Hi

. . . .I do not see audio clips as i did with my non hd video had . . . .

I am guessing that those were mpg video files.

When you press Ctrl + H with the video clip selected does the audio track not separate out onto the next track below the video as shown in the image I posted?

The audio waveform should appear when you press Shift + E if there is enough audio signal.

If you have a short clip, about 10 secs long, that is not confidential/personal and shows this problem can you upload it to a file sharing site such as Dropbox and post a link to it in a comment.

Thanks

I do see other tracks now but not with the peaks I am used to. There is definitely sound when I play it on its own, so I'm not sure what's going on. I did play another video and there was no sound until the end transition piece. Is this to do with a Windows update? I'm starting to think maybe I should upgrade. It's frustrating.

johnebaker wrote on 8/7/2018, 4:32 PM

. . . . Is this to do with a Windows update? . . . .

That is possible - the 1803 update has caused users to totally lose the audio from mts files when importing to MEP.

. . . . There is definitely sound when I play it on its own, so I'm not sure what's going on. I did play another video and there was no sound until the end transition piece . . . .

It is important to be very specific when posting statements like this - is this when played in Move Edit Pro 2015 from the timeline or the Media pool or another program?

For completeness what is your computer specification include processor make/model, graphics card or chipset make/model, audio card or chipset make/model, RAM,  hard drive configuration and sizes?

johnebaker wrote on 8/8/2018, 4:22 AM

@sensfan

Hi

. . . . There was no sound until the transition piece was played in Movie Edit Pro from the timeline . . . .

That suggest this a different issue to the Windows 10 update problem with MTS files.

If you have not done so try resetting the program to its default settings - File, Settings, Reset . . . . note this will lose any custom settings you have made eg changed the folder path location.

. . . . I restore back to the earlier update of Windows? . . . . .

You may not be able to depending on when the update was installed. The grace period to rollback is, AFAIK, only 10 days.

. . . . Does Movie Edit Pro 2018 have this problem? . . . .

Not on my system, however MEP 2015 does not have any issues either. You could try installing the trial version and test it, however do not let it overwrite 2015 if is asks to replace it.
