No sound on the last section on export

As done many times before, last week I recorded a sequence which I later edit out unwanted sections and export as a MPEG4. For the Video I use my Panasonic Lumix Digital Camera.

The original sequence was 1min 57 seconds and using MEP I reduced it down to five sections lasting 47 seconds. No problem, have done it many times before. However after export, the last section has no audio. Can't think why, not only was the initial 1min 57 seconds recorded at the same time, within MEP and before export, one can hear audio in that last section. I attach a screen print with the last two sections, unlocked, so that you can see there is an audio track. Every attempt at export has the same end result. (For another test, I have just moved this final track to the front of the sequence, and yes there is sound from this track, but get to the end of the sequence and there is no sound.)

Trying to wonder why, I then noticed that whilst my sequence should be around 47 seconds, the exported MPEG shows up in Properties as 54 seconds.

.

MEP version is 17.0.1.141 and am using Windows 10. I also have a program, Driver Genius, and so believe all my Drivers are up todate. Can't think of anything else.

Any suggestions please?

George

Just an update & further curiosity.

I use VLC to view movies and on playback, whilst my edited movie runs to the end, at 47 seconds, whilst the movie still plays, the timer that runs as a movie is played, stops, and at this point there is no audio. I did check VLC and there are no updates.

To eliminate VLC from the equation, I then tried playback in Windows Media Player and whilst this time the WMP timer runs to the end, albeit 10 seconds longer than according to what it should be looking at MEP before export, there is still no audio in that last section.

Does seem to point that there is a problem with my MEP export and guess my question should be directed to Customer Support?

Just in case anyone else has a similar problem and looks at this posting, I just want to add that, finally, I have found the problem.

My camera takes movies that require Quicktime and so I use Movavi Video Converter to be able to bring them into MEP to edit. I have just gone back to the original recording and this time, instead of converting to MPEG, chose the AVI format. Back into MEP, edited the clip as required and hey presto, problem solved.

Hi George

Thanks for letting us know.

I too use MovAvi video converter and have not come across any problem converting MOV files - I convert to MP4.

What Mpeg settings are you using in MovAvi?

Sorry, at this stage I don't know enough to be able to adjust settings and so just leave as to whatever it was when first used and convert. Have used it quite a number of times since recommended on this Forum without any problem. The only difference I can think of this time was that I had just upgraded to Version 18 and think this was the first time used since the upgrade. That, of course, could be a complete co-incidence though.

This time I just changed the output format to an AVI file without changing anything else.
