Hello friends,
Can anyone kindly guide me how to create the effects called Optical Flares / Light Leaks? They really look cool and give a great effect.
For reference I have also attached a small video.

Hi Anirban,

Unfortunately your video does not work. Can you try another format or put it on Dropbox with a link here?

Hi Anirban

The 'flashes' and effects are added videos sometimes overlayed on the main video or used a transitions.

There are many free sources of such video loops available on the Internet.

Thanks John,

But after i  download the loop, how do I overlay...I mean do I use chroma

Anirban,

Chroma is listed under 'Effects' >> "Chroma key. Apply it to your overlay loop which is placed under the clip (higher track number) to which the flash is to be applied.

Notes:

  • There are sliders to change the thresholds.
  • 'Alpha' effects the track above and also tracks below -- you see more of one or the other depending on the value of the alpha clip.
  • If you have a title below and don't want it affected, you might experiment with other chroma effects like 'White box' etc, also provided with sliders for making adjustments.

Regards,

Carl
