OT: USA flag icon?

I'm curious why almost all the posts here carry a USA flag icon, including many which I know are from non-USA users?

Perhaps because they have not changed to the correct location using the icon at the top of the page?

It's also because there is only one flag for the Americas and it happens to be the USA flag. There is no Canadian flag. I did use the UK flag but ended up with pricing information in the advertisements showing up in £, amongst other things. I usually try to use English versions, though, because of the incorrect American spelling.
