Payment not received email

riley-colwell wrote on 2/23/2026, 10:20 PM

I recently got an email claiming my payment wasn’t received and they would pursue legal action if not paid, but on PayPal and my credit card statement both payments cleared just fine. I’ve tried really hard to contact support for the issue and have updated my payment method to a different card + canceled my contracts for the foreseeable future due to the outright disregard I’ve experienced. If anyone can give me advice on how to speak with a representative that can help ease my mind I would be grateful, thank you.

@riley-colwell Some weeks ago there was a problem on the US store of Magix where PayPal kept the money and didn't transfer it over to Magix. This meant customers didn't get the programs they paid for. Maybe this is the same problem you encountered.

Support was working with priority on these cases and sending out licenses to customers.

Technically, you did it correctly and tried to contact support. But currently they are extremely hard to reach. For example, my own support ticket was closed automatically multiple times and only solved in a lucky coincidence after three months and dozens of tries to reach out to them. We just heard from a forum moderator that Magix customer support still has over 2000(!) open support tickets.

Hello welcome

Your first step would be is to contact PayPal as @SP. has already mentioned of said issue caused by PayPal of users payments not reaching Magix.

So you should ask PayPal to reach out to Magix to sort out said issue in the meantime.

It is quite difficult at the moment to reach Magix support as they have a back log of two thousand customers to process said enquiries.

Hi,

I doubt that you received such an email from Magix. I have never heard of Magix threatening anyone with legal action. They can simply disable your software by blocking the activation code. It is probably a scammer.

Hi

If John is correct and it is a scam email, then you would be advised to include the potential scam email along with your enquiry email to PayPal to investigate as at the moment you have had no success with Magix.

What contracts did you cancel?

Please note that this is a legally binding contract. If you do not update your payment details within 18 days, so that the amount due can be debited, your subscription will be canceled and all related serial numbers will be locked.
We reserve the right to engage the services of a collection agency or take other action.

There was a similar situation where a customer in the Vegas Forum received the same identical correspondence as yourself and it was genuine.

Under Magix terms and conditions section 13 is does state below;

"MAGIX also has the right
to bring proceedings against the Customer at its general court of jurisdiction"

I have tried to contact Magix to look at your issues concerned and treat as a priority.

I finally got a response so thanks to you and tom for the help, I’m still scratching my head a little bit on the response but I got the answer I ultimately wanted which is I have no outstanding balances. They claim to have canceled my subscription automatically (I canceled it a couple days after receiving the first email as I don’t use the service that often and had forgotten I was even paying for it) and they also said the payment had failed 3 times and they were out of chances to retry essentially (PayPal claims the payment went through to them and my credit statement reflects the payment as well) so I guess I’m done with Sony Vegas cause this is crazy, but this forum was nothing but helpful so if I ever do decide to use it again that’s the only reason I have lol I will copy and paste the email I received, thanks guys!

Dear Customer,

Unfortunately, your subscription has has been automatically cancelled by the system due to three failed payment attempts. The associated serial numbers have been locked. We cannot manually reactivate the subscription. There are no more payment attempts being made and no more oustanding amounts.

If you are interested in continuing to use the subscription, you would have to make a new purchase.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi

Thanks for the update and thanks to Tom for his assistance, at least you ended up with a positive outcome more so under the circumstances.

Ps if you do have any issues in the future and hopefully you do not, as it was a Vegas product you would have to go to the Vegas forums by clicking on the "VEGAS Forum" link at the bottom of the page.
