Photo manager deluxe - clouds and local drives

Kanina wrote on 3/26/2026, 3:40 AM

Hi, I am new in the Magix universe. I have installed the Photo Manager Deluxe programme. According to tutorials and description, it should be easy to install from Clouds. Still, I have problems with this.

Will all the photos end in this programme as a final destination or will they still have the 'home' on the local drives? I have a windows based PC.

I thought I could collect them all in the programme. And then delete them from the local drives.

I recently changed from Apple to Android and therefore I need to do something about my photos.

Thanks in advance :-)

@Kanina

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

DO NOT DELETE YOUR PHOTOS FROM WHEREVER THEY ARE CURRENTLY SAVED! Photo Manager is a database record of where any photos on your computer are currently stored, it does not "save" the actual photos. For the program to initially "find" and list those photos you have to tell it "where to look".

As for "clouds", personally I would never trust any cloud service to keep, without danger of corruption, any files that were especially important to me. In my case, all my photos, videos etc., are stored on local hard drives.

Hi Jeff,

Thank you for your answer. I will not delete any photos.

I don't like clouds anyway and I am trying to gather all photos in one place - I have an external harddrive that I also use. I must then try to collect all photos there, before uploading them to programme. After doing so, I need to attach the external harddrive everytime I use the programme, correct?

Sorry for the dumb questions.

@Kanina

There are no "dumb questions"!

I need to attach the external harddrive everytime I use the programme, correct?

Yes, unless you do as I do and keep the external drive permanently connected to your computer. I actually have three external and four internal hard drives, all permanently active.
