Picture in picture

rolcruz wrote on 11/20/2018, 2:51 PM

Dear experienced guys,, I am just starting with picture in picture. I saw the tutorials. After selecting the video in track 2 (the one I want to make smaller), resized it, removing audio, at the moment of overlaying under the track 1 (background),, the background video turns black and only the small one resized is seen . Any help ? . I work with Win7, movie edit pro plus. thank you.

I haven't had that problem myself personally. It sounds like you have things set up in the right order. Could you post a screen shot?

Have you tried using the Cookie Cutter Instead? It gives to my mind a more controllable output. Here is an example from one of my videos showing the settings in use.

Settings shown and coloured arrows showing which bit is showing where. The 'Mike Emison' is a graghic which comes from within the circle and 'pops' to the outside . I've only expanded the clips used in that portion of the timeline to make it easier to see.

rolcruz wrote on 11/22/2018, 12:39 PM

as soon as it is overlayed, track 1 turns black

browj2 wrote on 11/22/2018, 12:51 PM

Hi,

Strange.

Why is there a size/position effect on the object on track 1?

Did you turning off the smooth playback button (the lightning symbol button) at the bottom right of the Preview Window?

Have you updated to the latest version? Help, Update online.

Last idea, press on Y to get the Program Settings. Go to Display options tab, and change the Video Mode to Compatibility mode, ok. Does this change anything? Don't forget to put it back to Standard mode.

rolcruz wrote on 11/22/2018, 1:02 PM

when i turn back to std mode,, it behaves as before,, track 1 black. what does this actually mean?

browj2 wrote on 11/22/2018, 1:20 PM

Hi,

Then you should continue with Standard mode. I recall that there were issues with the video mode in some of the patches.

You may want to try to update to the latest version. I have 17.0.3.184 for MEP Plus. I did not upgrade to the newer version with Plus; I went with Premium.

Hi rolcruz. Try starting Task Manager while it's running and see what your ram usage is like. If it's close to your 4gig limit you may need additional ram. 4gig is pretty low for any editing program. I have photo editing software that trips up on occasion with 16 gig. MEP on average gets pretty close to 4gig even on small projects.
