Picture / Object disappears when I try to resize or move it!

Kiefer-Charlesworth wrote on 8/3/2018, 10:06 AM

So I've recently been trying out the Magix Movie Edit Pro trial package and I've been enjoying it so far, but I've been struggling with an annoying issue - when I place picture files (png) onto the timeline, and then try to resize them and move them about with the 'Size/Position' effect, when I click on the picture I want to move on the preview screen, the image either disappears or completely shrinks, and only when I click back on the timeline and move the orange arrow back over the image I was trying to move does it go back to normal.

This frustrates me a lot because I'm hoping to use Magix to help with my animation projects, and while I am gradually grasping the basics of this program for now, this is an issue that I really could use an answer for. If I can't see the image I'm moving about, then I can't place it where I want it to be. It all becomes tedious and irritating guesswork where it needs to go.

If someone, anyone, could help me out with this matter I would be eternally grateful. I could use a solution or a suggestion as soon as possible. I've tried to solve this issue by myself for a few days now and I'd much rather get this resolved so I can start working on new animation ideas again.

Please help me!

Hi,

I cannot reproduce what you describe but FWIW I do get an annoying intermittent quirk which sounds rather similar. Needless to say, I cannot reproduce that either!

What happens is that when adjusting the chosen rectangle's position, moving it so that say the left edge extends outside the preview monitor, it suddenly disappears entirely from the preview monitor. I then see that the Left or Top entry has jumped wildly from say -503 to -4503.

But in your case this sounds like a permanent problem? I assume you get it in a fresh project after a PC reboot, with just a single image on the timeline?

Hmm, sounded urgent three days ago...

I would have answered days ago if this stinking site didn't send me a new password email in a different language!

And no, the problem STILL persists! Now when I try to move an image it turns into this small rectangle box with the image I'm trying to move up in the corner, which makes it difficult to accurately position the image where I want it. Worse still is the fact that sometimes the image can remain looking like that - a glitchy rectangular box with the image I was trying to move up in the corner, and there's no way to revert it back to normal unless I shut the project down and open it up again, and drag the same image back onto the timeline and PRAY it doesn't do it again, which it normally does!

Seriously, was this program even tested!? Because I've paid money for this product and I demand a service that doesn't give me emails written in foreign languages, and can answer a question that apparently shouldn't need answering because everyone else seems to not have this problem! Is it my laptop? I have an Acer laptop, I just want to get to work on my animation projects and MAGIX would be perfect for my work if it wasn't pulling this crap on me!

I asked:

Post a few screenshots showing exactly what you’re doing and what you see at each step. Without more detailed information it’s unlikely we’ll be able to help you.

@Kiefer-Charlesworth

Hi

We appreciate the frustration you are having with the program, however comments like: 'if this stinking site didn't send me a new password email in a different language', 'Seriously, was this program even tested!' and 'MAGIX would be perfect for my work if it wasn't pulling this crap on me', are unnecessary and are not helpful.

What language was the email in?

Check the language settings in your profile for the forum.

The fact that you have received only one response with a similar issue, would suggest the problem is related to your system, about which you have told us nothing - see this post.

At best we would be guessing without more specific information including.

  • Have you tried resetting the program to its default settings, File, Settings, Reset . . . ?

  • Does the issue happen with a new project?

  • Have you restarted the computer - Windows button, Power button, Restart ?
