Platinum18: Layer display in the wrong order

inacoveney wrote on 7/15/2021, 8:30 AM

The top layer is supposed to be the one in the front of the video, and the bottom layer should be in the back.

Right now my Movie Studio Platinum 18 default seems to be set to "top layer: back, bottom layer: front" which is backwards.

How do I change this setting?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum,

You can't. You are now using a different product that has a different track protocol. No more inserting tracks above the background to put an object or title overtop of another one. Tracks are numbered starting from 1, 1 being the lowest number and thus the bottom of the pile. This is where your background goes. If you want on overlay, simply put it on track 2 or 3, which is a higher number. Think of it like a building where floor 1 is the bottom layer. When you look down from the top, you see the top floor, or the higher number floor, not the bottom floor.

Thus, your background will always be on the lower numbered track at the top of the timeline - it will never need to be moved to another track, so you will always know where your background is located. Forget the VMS format where your background kept moving to a new track number because you had to insert a track above it. You will eventually find this different way to be much more convenient.
