MOVIE EDIT PRO PREMIUM 2020 version 19.0.1.23 / Windows 7 Prof.
When I click on the VEGAS video stabilization button it says the video effect plug-in could not be loaded. I have tried to figure this out on my own but I can NOT figure out how to add this plug-in!! I have been through the help files & website - nothing. This feature was one of the reasons I purchased this software. Today is the first day I am trying to learn this software and it is NOT too user friendly :-(

Hi Jennifer and welcome to the user to user forums.

Did you buy this software recently and if so from which vendor please?

Was it a digital download?

It should have come with a pdf manual. If it did please go to the heading 'Before you start' and see if your computer meets all of the minimum system requirements to run the program.

Hi. I purchased this a week or so ago on eBay - the seller was mmcgolfer. It was not a digital download, but a sealed retail box with nothing in it but the CD and the serial number card. I did not have a pdf manual. As far as the minimum system requirements... I am sure I way exceed the minimum. I have Windows 7 Prof. with SP1. Currently my system has 272 gigs free of 467 gigs. Processor 650 @ 3.20 GHz

Hi.

I have never had a CD boxed version but I doubt all of the contents could be fitted onto a CD as the full program is several gigabytes in size.

Have you created a user account and registered the program with Magix and then downloaded all external content? The effects should be with the external content.

Yes, I have registered and all that. I have downloaded everything that is available to download from the CD. I am not sure what "all external content" means or where this would be downloaded from. I know that I have downloaded so far WAY more than I need! I am editing old digitized VHS home movies from the 50's & 60's. I wanted to get rid of "wiggles" and lines and lighten the overall recordings. I know that I have way more memory taken up on my computer than I need because of all the special effects that I downloaded! I went ahead and downloaded all that stuff in hopes that the VEGAS video stabilization button would work. But, no, just the same. Now I have a ton of stuff on my computer that I don't need and not sure how to get rid of it, unless they are individually listed in my control panel. I haven't checked yet.

@jennifer-landry

Hi.

I have never really used the Vegas Stabilization preferring to use the ProDad Mercarlli II option.

I have just tried the Vegas version and it worked OK on my system but I did notice that whether I was using hardware acceleration or not that it was my nvidia graphics card that got pressed into service while the plugin was working along with some CPU usage.

Unfortunately apart from the warnings about some functionality may require various components to be present in the minimum requirements section for each version of the program that is released it is rather vague on which effects will be effected.

@AAProds

I have added Alwyn into this reply as I know his system is not quite up to current spec in case he has any further observations or can tell if it works on his system or not.

In the mean time, your pdf manual should be available under the help menu within MEP 2020 for the system specs. As you are seeing the button for the effect I have to assume it has been downloaded but is non functioning.

As your computer specs are a bit vague is your processor this one ?.

those computer specs look right but I don't know where to go on my computer to get all these specs! I just right-clicked on Computer and opened properties. I have a lot of lines and shaking in parts of my old videos. I figured that Vegas Stabilization was something that might correct this to a small or large degree! I am NOT a computer geek. I do NOT have a fancy video card - just the one that came on the motherboard. I do not know what "ProDad Mercarlli II option" means.

CubeAce wrote on 6/14/2021, 12:01 PM

Hi.

The ProDad Mercarlli II is another video stabilizer found in the same section of effects.

To get system specs go to Windows Settings / About. Your processor will be listed there. Do not give out the Device ID or your computers Device name.

okay. I will give that a try. thank you. I downloaded the PDF file and it is for the 2020 (or is it 2021?) Movie Edit. Somewhere on there it says to make sure to update via the help file. So I am . . . it is removing my older version and putting the newest version on!! I was kind of surprised because it didn't ask me to pay for it. I will see where this will lead in my learning of this product :-)

emmrecs wrote on 6/14/2021, 1:58 PM

@jennifer-landry

I will see where this will lead

I rather fear it will lead even further down a long,dark tunnel!

Assuming you now have the 2021 version of MEP, it is not designed to run under any version of Windows older than version 8! I think you are likely to discover that the missing Vegas Stabilisation has been "joined" by other difficulties, not least of which is the fact that the new Infusion2 video engine in MEP 2021 is unlikely to run at all smoothly.

However, taking a step back for a minute, I have to ask about the purchase of the software you made on ebay. As @CubeAce wrote, I see no way that a CD could ever hold all the content of the MEP installer (or did you mean it is a DVD?) Are you sure the supplied disc is actually a genuine Magix-created one? Unfortunately, it is not unknown for "illegal" copies of software to be distributed on otherwise reputable platforms, along with serial numbers/activation keys which are "cracks". Regrettably, the confirmation that one has a cracked code may only be obvious when attempting something like installing an update; initial installation, registration and activation of the software may succeed, but any attempt to actually run the software or install any update, is more than likely to fail.

The program is Movie Edit Pro, also known as VideoDeluxe , 2020.

In addition to @emmrecs comment based on what you have said about your computer system:

. . . . Processor 650 @ 3.20 GHz . . . those computer specs look right  . . . video card - just the one that came on the motherboard . . .

The only processor that is a '650 @3.2 GHz is the Intel i5-650 processor @CubeAce linked to and asked about, if the rest of the system is the same age, the computer is about 10 to 11 years old - is this correct.

Is this a HP Pavilion or Dell Optiplex computer and has it been refurbished?

Hi Jennifer.

Try this.

If that doesn't work try having the CD / DVD in the player when you select it a second time.

Alternatively go to the Drive letter of your DVD drive and right click the icon and select 'open' (with the disk in place) to see what files and folders exist on the disc.

Hi

None of the versions you listed are the correct ones - you have Movie Edit Pro 2020 also known as VideoDeluxe 2020.

. . . . what does "steam powered" mean when I do a search for video deluxe 2020 . . . .

It is a special version of the program which can lead you down a rabbit hole or as @emmrecs put it 'a long dark tunnel'.

. . . . My computer is a ThinkCentre and it has been refurbished . . . .

To confirm my thoughts can you post a screen of the information @CubeAce requested regarding your system specification - however to avoid your computer ID and other confidential information appearing, use the method below to get the information:

Press the Windows key on your keyboard, as soon as the Windows menu appears type System - a list of apps will appear, select System Information.

Take a screenshot of the System information window and post it.

Hi

Thanks for the screenshot of the system info.

The computer has been upgraded from the original specifications during the refurb with more RAM (memory) to 16GB.

Despite this extra RAM, and after some testing with Vegas stabilisation - I think the computer is struggling to run Movie Edit Pro 2020 and the Vegas stabilisation plug-in.

So I am . . . it is removing my older version and putting the newest version on!! I was kind of surprised because it didn't ask me to pay for it.

I have an inkling that MEP did that to me too when I upgraded or even put the trial on and I'm pretty sure I wasn't asked if I wanted that to happen. I don't remember the exact sequence of events though.
