Positioning a title by numeric input?

a.kovacs wrote on 2/14/2014, 6:00 AM

Hi all,

I am blending about 58 (sub-) titles one to another. The titles are left oriented and should all start at the same position. However, if I change the content, the width of the title changes and I have to move it back to the left.

Now, with the mouse, this becomes annoying its impossible to move an item jus to the left (and not up/down at the same time) So I frequently end up in micro management.

I am wondering, if there is no way to enter the title position by keyboard, which would make my life dramatically easier...

Thanks ahead,

Aron

Hello a.kovacs,

Does the "Left justify" not work in your program ?

Unfortunately not:

the left-justify is aligning the title within the title box. Since the box width is changing by its content, the absolute left starting position is changing as well. In other words, I would like to have the text 40px from the left screen side. This is however rather difficult, when the content of the text box is changing and I have to move the text box itself each time. Note that the text itself is left-justified:

If I change the first line (reduced space required):

Note that 'a' in 2nd line is still left-oriented. The starting point from the left has moved to the right. The box seems to be still centered-ish.

Thanks,

Aron

Hi

. . . . I am wondering, if there is no way to enter the title position by keyboard, which would make my life dramatically easier . . . .

There are 2 ways you can achieve this:

Method 1.

a   Select the first title and position it where you want it.

b   Select Effects tab, Movement Size/Position and note the Left and Top values.

c   Select the remaining titles one by one and enter the Top and Left values noted in b

Method 2 - the quickest

a   Select the first title and position it where you want it.

b   Right click the title and select Video effects,Copy video effects

c   In the dialog that opens uncheck everything except X-Pos and Y-Pos then click Continue

d   Select all the remaining titles

e   Right click the first of the selected titles and click Paste video effects

HTH

John

Thanks!

Switching to the effects panel was the missing brick. Copy works also well.
