PRO X13 - EXPORT ISSUES - Time to leave I think

Metallica4Life wrote on 9/3/2021, 11:27 AM

Hi everyone,
are any of you Video Pro X13 users having issues with exporting projects using MP4, MP5 codecs? Mine just uses graphic card acceleration as usual, but when it reaches the end of the export, the program just exits, leaving no finished/rendered file.
The only codec I can currently use is the older MPEG2, and AVI uncompressed. The original/older versions for me would usually export no issues. Also for as long as I can remember, exporting WAV/MP3 files with any numbers in the name causes the exported file to be a virus/bug file with a random file type/name.
Tbh I think I'm going to have to jump ship on Magix, such buggy software, which really annoys me as it comes across as just lazy.
The only reason I've stuck with it this long, is that I have always enjoyed Magix ease of use and layout, but too many issues cause no end of frustration.

Hi I'm not sure what you mean by an MP5 file. Do you mean H265 HEVC?

I don't have VPX 13 but do have MEP 2022 which now runs on the same infusion engine.

I am not having any problems with exports of any file type I have tried so far including mp4 and HEVC.

How is your program settings page for Device options set up?

Ray.

Hi Ray,

Many thanks for the reply mate, much appreciated. Yes sorry I meant H265 HEVC. I'm not at PC at moment, but I'm sure that my graphics card is listed in my video output setting. I'll take a look when I'm on there next. Tbh though older versions of Pro X, have worked fine on my PC.

Exporting here via h.264, to .mp4, FHD. No issues. (Though not blinding new speed either).

Cheers for the post bud, much appreciated. Funny enough I managed to get a ProRes to mp4 FHD exported other night, but I think it was because I didn't use any numbers in the file name. So damn buggy on many features!

Hi

. . . .  I think it was because I didn't use any numbers in the file name . . . .

If you are using characters a to z, upper or lower case, hyphen and underscore and numbers with no special symbols or separators there should be no issue with having any combination of the above.

There are a set of disallowed characters in a file name such as ! " £ $ % ^ & * @ ' < > ? plus others that are not allowed.

Hi John mate,

Many thanks for the reply. Yes I was aware of those disallowed characters, but for some reason if ever wished to type in the date on the file, eg - Drum Solo 15.10.21 Magix seems to always create a bug/virus type file. It's done this for years with older versions of Magix etc..

@Metallica4Life

Hi

Tested VPX 13 with your  Drum Solo 15.10.21 file name - exported fine.

Windows 10 does allow multiple periods/full stops in file names, though I try to avoid them and use the hyphen for dates and underscore for anything else eg spaces (old habit from when they were not allowed in file names) so the filename would become  Drum_Solo_15-10-21.mp4

That's odd then John, many thanks for doing that name test for me. It must be something to do with my PC or security software then, as Magix is very buggy for me with certain things, especially naming export files, which include any numbers etc.. I can always rename the file once its exported with anything I want, but not within Magix at the export screen.

Many thanks mate.

Hi

Have you tried the format I use?

Also try putting an exception into your AV program for VPX 13 in the Folder/Realtime/Ransomware features of the AV.

I tend to use the newest HEVC Export with hardware acceleration John. Although due to some issues clients were having with choppy playback, I tend to use MP4 again recently.

I shall try that AV folder setting thanks mate.

Hello, Yes I am also having issues exporting Mp4 and HEVC since the update to 13. I am currently working with Magix Support but not resolved as of yet. I have noticed I get the issue when using certain effects, just exporting unedited video works ok. Weird.

Sorry to hear that Paul mate, I had feared I wasn't the only one. Odd about the fx export issue. Does the program just exit/close upon completion of an export, and just leave you on your desktop? That's what it has been doing with me.

CubeAce wrote on 9/10/2021, 4:10 PM

@Metallica4Life @paulsweigert

I would personally never consider sending a client an HEVC file unless they specifically asked for it.

Knowing some companies lack of modern hardware and tendency to hang on to computers that 'still do the job' they are often under-powered for reliable HEVC playback even if they have updated to Windows10. I find that particularly true of Charity organisations and local councils.
