I regularly use Firewire to download video from a range of digital video cameras but I have never seen either of those error messages.
I assume you are trying to use the DV to MPEG icon option on the Capture screen. Is that correct? If so, have you tried the option icon immediately to the left of that, which will transfer the footage as DV AVI? I've never tried the DV to MPEG option, always choosing to download the video as DV AVI, which, although producing quite large files (c. 13GB per hour) they are very easily edited in VPX.
I think there are two things going on. On the first screen, you get a message that you can download the MPEG-2 by clicking "Yes".
On the second screen, I read that Pro X16 has not been successfully deactivated, because Pro X16 is probably already deactivated.
If you start Pro X16 and it isn't activated, you first need to reactivate it with your email address and P3 serial number. You do need an internet connection for this.
Once Pro X16 is properly activated, try downloading the MPEG-2 codec again.
I think Magix is activated. I just try to download video from hard disk, make short edit and safe as MPEG-2. Everything is working. I think there is problem with connection with my firewire card. I did not use it in this new computer.
You're welcome. However, you cannot and should not confuse the standard MPEG-2 codec with the MPEG-2 codec (MainConcept). I know that in previous versions you could download and use the MPEG-4 codec (MainConcept) and MPEG-2 codec (MainConcept). It's said that's no longer possible in Pro X16.
