Problem importing video. 25fps v 30fps

Garry_A wrote on 2/3/2019, 10:22 AM

Everytime I import/load a .MOV video (1920x1080 16:9 30fps) on to my active moive (1920x1080 16:9 25fps) the Movie Edit Pro 16 program keeps crashing. This is a new laptop and the first time I have loaded and used the software on this laptop.

Error in module "mxmpeg2.dll" (Load address: 0x09e50000) to address 0x09e56081
Exception 0xc0000005  "ACCESS_VIOLATION"

I have tried Adjusting the movie to the Imported File type and have also tried not Adjusting. Nothing seems to work.

Anybody any ideas?

Hi

Please read this topic and come back with more information as requested in the topic linked to ie:

  1. computer specification

  2. Movie Edit Pro version

  3. MediaInfo analysis of one of the MOV files that is causing the issue.

Also do you have either of the following installed:

  1. Quicktime

  2. an 'all in one' codec packs eg K-Lite

re: johnebaker

1. Computer is Windows 10, 64-bit, 8GB RAM, intel(R) Core(TM) CPU@1.60GHZ. Bought brand new 05 Jan 2019.

2. Movie Edit Pro 16 Plus. Version 9.0.1.60 (C1)

3. .MOV file originally filmed on an iPad, Frame rate 29.98 fps, Data rate 15254kbps, Frame Width 1920, Frame Height 1080, size 18.3MB. Loading from a USB.

1. Installed Quicktime an hour ago as per previous suggestions.

2. No codec packs (that I know of)

Cheers

Hi Garry

Thanks for the information there are a few issues here:

  1. Movie Edit Pro 16 Plus. Version 9.0.1.60 is not compatible with Windows 10 - mine stopped working completely as did Movie Edit Pro 17. - you need to consider upgrading to a Windows 10 compatible version

  2. . . . . .MOV file originally filmed on an iPad, Frame rate 29.98 fps, Data rate 15254kbps, Frame Width 1920, Frame Height 1080, size 18.3MB. . . .

We still need the full MediaInfo analysis, it provides much more in depth detail of what is in the MOV file - MOV is a container file format which can contain many different codecs for video and audio and a variety of other information that is useful.

  3. . . . . Loading from a USB. . . .

    If you mean:

    - USB thumb drive/memory stick then the file(s) should be copied to your PC first before importing into MEP.

    - USB external hard drive then the Windows power management of the drive should be changed to never turn off the drive, again it is preferable to copy the files to the PC before importing.

re: johnebaker

1. Possibly. I will keep that as my last option (£££). However, today I have successfully managed to load MP4 and WMV videos, edit and save them using my Edit Pro 16 Plus.

2. I don't know how to get the Mediainfo of the MOV file.

3. The files were on a USB stick. Now loaded onto laptop. Still not working.

@Garry_A

Hi Garry

. . . . I don't know how to get the Mediainfo of the MOV file. . . .

  1. Download and install MediaInfo from here.

  2. Run the program - on 1st start the setup screen will appear - ensure the 3 options circled below are set as shown then click OK

  3. Close the program, it is easier to use the program a different (quicker?) way.

  4. Using Windows Explorer browse to the video file to be analysed and right click it, from the popup menu select MediaInfo as shown below

  5. MediaInfo will open and analyse the file as shown below

  6. Highlight all the text and copy it, then paste it into a comment.
