Problems playing back a purchased piece of music: "Burning Sun.."

virgil-h wrote on 10/29/2020, 3:14 AM

I decided to try Music Maker. As a videographer, I'm always seeking fresh music. But after purchasing "Burning Sun", and installing Music Maker on my (Windows 8.1) workstation, (HP Z420 Xeon--3.6 MHZ, 32 GB ram); But the selection does not show a sine wave, for audio in the display, and the selected piece, Burning Sun won't play through Music Maker. I use various video editing software, including Vegas 11, 12 & 14, Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 18 ~ 23, and others. . So, I wondered if Music Maker is either, a stand alone package, or has to be loaded in another software, in order to work. Maybe I can get a couple of tips here, on what I might do to correct this issue, and then consider other Music Maker selections..

Thanx, Virg in Vegas

Its hard to imagine what you are talking about without screenshots. Please upload some to show us what is your problem.

Maybe you are getting something wrong? There are tutorial videos to learn the basics. https://www.magix.com/int/support/know-how/tutorial-videos/music-maker/ And you can read the manual under the Help menu.

Hi

Music Maker which is a stand alone program and does not load into other software.

In which audio format did you purchase the music?

If you bought the music video you cannot import this into Music Maker it currently does not support video importing.

If the music is an audio or video format that your video editor supports, and it is note subject to DRM ie is not locked to a specific player, then it can be imported directly into it, there is no need to use Music Maker.

Thanks, johnebaker, for your response to my Music Maker concerns. Actually, I was a bit confused with another response, requesting a screenshot. But you got the point--regarding "stand alone" functions versus exporting music to another software.  Regarding preferred audio files, I use wav, pcm and wma, for most projects. Here, I am including a screen capture of the Music Maker dashboard on my system. I believe things will work better, if I can at least save music on the computer and import it into a given project as needed. I'll add that all of this comes following the failure of a graphics card. Now, after replacing lost files, an Nvidea Quadro 6000 card is installed; updated from Win 7 to Win 8.1. I'm hoping for better results.

Thanks johnebaker, for your input on this matter;

@virgil-h

I am not at all sure what your screencapture video is intended to show???

You clearly still have the initial start-up screen visible behind the workscreen of the tracks. Why? It is not needed and would usually be dismissed as soon as the user has selected any of its options.

The track you have inserted to the timeline clearly shows it is a MIDI track, not an AUDIO track (see the lower edge of the object "box"). So what, exactly, are you attempting to do?? Did you actually purchase a MIDI file, rather than an audio file? Is the purchased file what is showing on that workscreen? I suspect so, because the size of the file shown in the right-hand side Properties screen, 31.3kB, would be a very small audio file.

Without wishing to sound at all condescending 😀, do you understand the difference between Audio and MIDI?

Hi

As @emmrecs has stated the file on the timeline indicates it is a MIDI file. however there is no indication of any notes in it - it should look like the top track in the image below

The name of the file and type - circled in the image are also missing - all it says is MIDI ->.Concert Grand LE

The Burning Sun file on the right is 313 kB ( Jeff - I took a screenshot and blew it up) in size which is extremely large for a MIDI file. If the file is an audio file, when imported it should look the the audio in the image above when imported onto the timeline.

What is the format of the 'audio file' Burning Sun as purchased, has this been ripped from a CD?
