Problems with new version, update, and contacting anyone who can help.

I originally purchased Movie Edit Pro the 2017 version. It worked fine. Everything is downhill from there. The 2021 version I expected to be better. It was worse. Some of the features, like the track mute was difficult to use. Then I got a 2022 update and it was disaster. Features had changed, like how to shrink or expand a track and it was difficult to work. Also the sound was terrible and "tinny". When I went to the website to get help, it just gave men the run-around. I am not a happy customer!

@John-Abercrombie

Hi John and welcome to the user to user forums.

This is just my opinion based on my own experience and over the past few years trying to sort out others problems on this forum.

As with any new software release, the developers are constantly updating the software to cope with new components, cameras and the increase demand of the new codecs and resolutions those new bits of kit supply.

With that comes the need for the computer it is to be put on to be as up to date component wise as possible for the best user experience. It may be possible to run a new program on older components but often the user experience is not as good as it was with the previously released program if the components are the same.

The program specs page is always for me at least, is read with some mixture of dread and apprehension as I trawl around the minimum required specs to expect the program to run at all. Let alone expect it to run well. That page should really read that it needs all of the required components such as using two GPUs, preferably nvidia and Intel to expect a trouble free experience. Then again I have yet to find a company willing to point out the bad points of their products. 'Buyer beware' has never been a more apt slogan for the unassuming in my opinion.

All I can say is that Movie Edit Pro Premium 2021 has run with little in the way of incidents on my computer. It has been stable and without any major flaw in use but all my hardware was upgraded to reasonably beyond the minimum set requirements for all required components in 2019.

Remember that MEP 2021 was made to cope with editing 8K footage. Not a requirement that was needed for the 2017 version.

Ray.
