Program crashes and new blue plug-in not working properly.

Gianluca-Bianchino wrote on 6/2/2021, 7:12 AM

Hi. I'm having a few issues 1. Program freezes and crashes often! This is a new software installed on a brand new Lenovo Legion 5, a computer specifically made for gaming and video editing, which has no other graphic programs on it other than Vegas and sound forge, from my recent Magix purchase. 2. The new blue effects and other effects included in my purchase, which I believe to have properly installed, show up in my system with a red X over them. These were part of my purchase.

Hi

. . . . . on a brand new Lenovo Legion 5 . . . .

If you have a model with an Intel processor with integrated GPU and Nvidia card there are 3 changes to make:

  1. If you are not gaming - replace the Nvidia gaming drivers with the Studio version.

  2. Open Vantage and turn Hybrid mode on - you may not see the 'switch' change when you click it once however you should see it is on when you restart Vantage - this enables the Intel integrated GPU.

  3. In Windows settings, System, Graphics settings option, under Graphics performance preference add Movie Edit Pro to the list and set it to Let Windows decide

This should fix the problems of freezing and crashing.

Did you register/activate the NB effects on first start up of the effect? The NB Effects Manager may not be visible as it pops up underneath the MEP window.

Hi

Is this question about Magix Movie Edit Pro (MEP)? If it is about the performance of Vegas then you need to go to the Vegas forum and ask there.

See the sticky at the top of this forum for the link.

@johnebaker @Scenestealer Thank you. It's all a bit gibberish for me at the moment. Are you or anyone able to provide live support for replacing the NVDIA drivers with Movie Studio drivers. I've also not heard back from the company itself (MAGIX) regarding my concern. It's been a week since I opened a ticket. Is this normal? I could really use some more hands on support. Thank you.

@Gianluca-Bianchino

Hi

Assuming the Nvidia GPU you have is listed in the Supported products here then this is the Studio driver you need - there is not a program specific version of graphics drivers you need.

If the product you have is Movie Studio then you are in the wrong form - Vegas products have their own forum - see this comment at the top of the forum.

Thank you, but I have not received an answer from that forum let alone Vegas in general. Very much in the dark here with a system that's not working properly.

Do you know how I can contact customer support specifically for movie studio? It seams to have been difficult so far to speak tot he right person. The NVIDIA link you sent before are not the right drivers apparently. Thanks again.

infoservice@magix.net.

That link John gave you should have given you the correct drivers as shown beneath unless your machine does not meet the minimum requirements.

If you are running any type of antivirus you should add the programs folders to the exceptions folder of your antivirus to prevent the files from being scanned. Sometimes an antivirus program will stop a program from communicating with the host site thinking that is is the action of a virus. In this instance, the lack of communication could stop the program from verifying itself as a legally obtained program and stop functioning.

Last but not least. Always but always check the minimum computer specs for program for successful use of the program and try to exceed the minimum required specs to ensure smooth operation. Do not go by what computer manufacturers claims are or the program makers who tend to exaggerate such claims of compatibility.

Hi

What is the processor and graphics card full make and model, eg my Lenovo Legion 5 has an Intel  i7-10750H processor with a Nvidia RTX 2060 graphics card.

Hi @johnebaker

GeForce GTX 1650 Super Graphics by NVIDIA. I was on a chat with NVIDIA yesterday. They helped me change some settings by including Vegas into their drivers (as far as I understand). So far I haven't edited anything but I rendered a few test clips, one in Magix AVC and the other in Video for windows Avi. The performance was good. No crash. What are your suggestions?

Thank you!

Hi

. . . .  GTX 1650 Super . . . .

The drivers I pointed you to are the correct Nvidia Studio drivers for the GTX 1650, if you are not gaming on the Lenovo then you have the option of using these, however I would suggest you do more testing using the settings you have.

If the Legion 5 is an Intel processor based system, then AVC export, either as AVCHD, or MP4 h.264, and HEVC (h.265) take advantage of the Intel integrated GPU for which you need Hybrid mode turning on, if you already have not done so, using the Vantage program.
