Program loads and then freezes

Suddenly my MEP 2020 on my windows 7 computer loads up to where the New project/load project window appears and then completely freezes. No cursor, no response to any mouse input. Won't close or shut down in any way. Only way to get rid of it is to restart computer! Program is now useless this way. What can I do?? I never had this issue before. I have tried numerous restarts and the same thing always happens.

Please post PC specifications.

Also can it be assumed that you have visually confirmed that the latest hardware drivers are installed. Pay particular attention to your audio drivers.

Also, is Windows 10 on the agenda.

My 2020 used to do a similar thing for a couple of minutes on every start-up; it was connecting to the Internet, CPU would go to 100%. Used to drive me mad. I walked away for 5 minutes and then it would be OK. Try leaving it for a while. It only started happening a couple of months after I had 2020 running nicely.

Also, try Resetting MEP to Default (File>Settings>Reset...), although it sounds like you're not getting to the point where you could do that.

Try loading Task manager while loading a project and playing. You may find on a system using spinning disks with small cashes max out while parts of the project are transferred from disc to memory before it can play.
