Putting transitions on overlay objects (Magix M E Pro Premium)

JamesRC wrote on 12/24/2018, 8:55 AM

Hello,

I require help with making transitions work correctly on an overlay object (png image).

I am currently using Movie Edit Pro Premium version: 18.0.2.225 (all features downloaded)

PC: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, Nvidia GTX 760, 8gb Ram

The issue is applying a transition onto a overlay object which is set on another track underneath the video file, my goal was to use the 'slide up' transition on the overlay object. When applying this transition it 'ghosts' the png image until its fully on screen. It doesn't happen with other transitions. Now technically I know transitions are for use to bridge two video files together on a track but I've not encountered this problem before and like I said it doesn't happen with other transitions.

Is there something I need to do or download? I don't want to have to use another transition as the slide up one is the perfect animation for what I need.

@JamesRC

When you say 'Ghosts', do you mean like a double exposure with your png file being semi-transparent?

Also, what does the png consist of content-wise? Maybe, you need to create a mask for it or use the green screen facility to bring it out.

Hi

. . . . . my goal was to use the 'slide up' transition on the overlay object . . . .

After a lot of testing none of the Smooth transitions work correctly for me.

Additionally some transition effects do not work on single objects - ie you must have 2 selected for correct transition.

The Slide up effect can be created manually using Size & Position effect with keyframes see video clip below.

Note:

  1. I am working with a project 1920 x 1080 so the figures I use for animation are based on this resolution, if your project settings are different you will have to adjust the figures I use.

  2. I split the transition end of the outgoing object, this is strictly not necessary, however is does make correcting any errors easier and in the final export the cut is not noticed.

  3. I have used a transition time of 1 sec - you can adjust this by altering the degree of overlap and adjustment of the keyframe times.

Thanks guys, and @Johnebaker, you were really helpful and taught me how to use the keyframes properly so now my objects is animated correctly.
