Re-activate plug-ins...

ketil-sorensen wrote on 3/27/2022, 4:34 AM

Late 2018 I purchased... Upgrade: MAGIX Movie Edit Pro Premium" and the "Movie Edit Pro Content Pack Premium 2019". I am now trying to reinstall and activate the Content Pack after replacing the program on my hard drive. I have installed the Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium.. and need to install Vasco da Gama 11 HD Essential and proDAD Vitascene 3 LE

After some frustration where I have failed to install the plug-ins at the Help Menu, Install extra content or activate content pack, I see at the bottom of the "Select files" menu.. it says:

"Only available with a fee-based renewal, upgrade or new purchase of the Update service. Third party plug-ins are not available within the terms of your current Update Service..."

So..... I have to pay to use the software that I have already paid for? What is the problem here?

Tried to find somewhere to get in contact with the support of Magix... but could not find it within reasonable time.

Hi.

It is difficult to say but strictly speaking no-one ever buys software.

No-one other than the company that makes it owns it.

What you buy is a licence granting the use of that program within the terms and conditions attached to the licence. This is true of all programs including operating systems. Within the terms and conditions are further clauses of which one will be the right of the owner of the software to no longer supply or give access to any end user at any time without explanation.

Any third party plugin on offer over a sale period will only be available is the licence is current. Even then a lot of plugins may be withdrawn under the third parties own terms and conditions. Some plugins have a limited life and are only available for one or two years and will stop working at the end of that period whether you have re-installed the program or not while others will only stop if or when a new install of the main program becomes necessary.

Plugins disappear regularly or are replaced with newer ones as they become incompatible with newer operating systems. This often means if you open an old project that you may have to rework some aspects of it if you used a certain plugin that is no longer there. This is more applicable to video editing software than any other programs where the development of new technology tends to go at a slower pace and are not so reliant on the latest graphics improvements.

There are contact details for Magix under Help in the program.

Ray.

I get what you are saying, but it just gets to technical..... Either the plug-ins work or they do not work after I have paid for it. It is the first time I have come across this problem. I will see what Magix solution will be. If it does not work... ok... No big loss really except my hard-earned money. I will use different software/company for my future projects. Just need to get familiar with a new one. Just thought I would be able to use what I had paid for.

I looked under the Help menu in the software to find any support contact details. What I found just leads me into a long "clicking adventure" in the magix.info page. Do not have the time or patience to keep trying that. There is also an e-mail address listed where it says: "For advice on how to use the support, please send an email to: infoservice@magix.net... For advice on how to use the support?.... Life is not long enough to deal with nonsense like this.

Thank you for your reply CubeAce.

I do not have MEP 2019 installed on this computer, was only ever installed on the old Win 7 desktop that died.

However I do have Vasco da Gama 11, which came with MEP 2019 installed on my new system, the program is fully operational as a standalone. Also from MEP 2019, I have also installed ReSpeedr 1.0 which again is a fully operational standalone program. VitaScene not installing is understandable, as that would be linked to MEP2019.

This PC has MEP 2021 installed
