Re-instaling MEP 2019

Aitch wrote on 12/27/2021, 4:00 AM

Every time I start to use MEP2019, I keep getting an error message and the program will not respond other than to restart it. Is there a specific tutorial or guide for uninstalling and then reinstalling? have tried to include a screenshot but having problem with that. I do not want to upgrade to a later version. Thanks

@Aitch

First, what is the exact wording of the error message you see? It could be important in helping to diagnose exactly what is the problem.

If you do want to completely uninstall and reinstall MEP 2019, the most critical factor is to ensure that everything connected with the faulty installation is removed. I would suggest the following procedure:

  1. If you can open the program at all, first go to Help>Deactivate program. This is not essential but will help to avoid any problem of being unable to activate the new install if the Magix server thinks you already have two installations in use.
    An alternative method is to go to your Magix account log in, go to My products, find the listing for MEP2019 and deactivate any installations you no longer need. You can also there see your serial key, which you will need once the reinstallation occurs.
  2. Find, download and install the free Revo Uninstaller (there is also a Pro, paid for, version which is well worth the money, IMO).
  3. Point Revo to MEP and have it uninstall the app and also run the Advanced Scan. The first stage will use the built-in Magix Uninstaller but this is insufficient to ensure complete removal because certain files, folders etc. are created when the program is first run and the uninstaller does not know of their existence! The Advanced Scan will search for these and list them. Check this list carefully, especially if you have any other Magix software installed. It will also do the same for Registry entries; again, you should carefully check this list!
  4. Once this has completed, reboot your computer.
  5. Reinstall MEP2019 and complete the registration/activation process.

This is the error from the screen shot.

A serious error occurred.

Error in Module “Qt5GuiMx64QT57.dll (load address:

0x00007FAB 1550000) to address 0x00007FFAB 1839953

(Exception 0xc0000005 “ACCESS_VIOLATION”)

The dialog box gives me the option to 'Close' the program, or continue, but whichever I choose it shuts down for a restart. I had the same message when I was suing the program before Xmas, but when I was trying to insert a Text Box, on the video I was working on.

@Aitch

Hi

. . . . Qt5GuiMx64Qt57.dll  crash . . . .

With Movie Edit Pro (MEP) closed, delete this folder:

C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium\ShopManager_Videodeluxexx_premium

Where Username is your logon name for the computer and xx = the major version number ( 18 IIRC)

The start MEP again.

Hi John EB

Followed the C:\Users\<Username>\Documents\MAGIX\Movie Edit Pro Premium. When opened the folder it tells me that this folder is empty. In doing a search it tells me that the 'Videodeluxe Folder' is also empty.

Have also checked the Magix PC check and tuning/ Music Maker folders. No Joy! Have also done a search for the ShopManager.

I then searched Program files/ Magix/ Movie Editor Pro/ 2018/ shop/ shop configuration. The last two 'shops' were XML files. Also, there was a key-file in the folder. I cannot find any results for the 'Videodeluxe' either. Can't seem to find a solution within the realms of a search or path. I'm now of the inclination to do a delete and re-install. is that wise in the circumstances? Thanks for any help.

The empty folders would suggest there was an issue with the install, possibly your Antivirus program blocking the installer.

I would susggest your run this Microsoft troubleshooter for the programs you have an issue with, before using the Revo Uninstaller Free as @emmrecs has suggested to remove the programs.

Additionally I would suggest you disable your Antivirus or at least its Realtime/Folder protection features while you install Movie Edit Pro and the other programs if you also re-install them.

Thanks for your reply. I had no problems running MEP 2019 last week and I was able to start structuring the video I was working on. Can't understand why the programme is there and yet the folders are empty. I'll give them a try, so I can guess what I'll be doing tomorrow!
