Recent Reformat - Necessary to Deactivate Before Reinstalling Again?

CarpentersMate wrote on 6/25/2022, 11:37 PM

Hi Gang

Had already installed MEP2016 in NEW SSD system drive (all was running good with MEP)! Unfortunately had to re-install W10 Pro on the same SSD drive (using UEFI instead of Legacy). It boots much faster now ... Is it neccessary to Deactivate that 2nd available slot BEFORE re-installing MEP 2016 again?

Thank You!

For Magix: Running Windows 10 Professional 64 bit - Dell Precision Workstation 3620 - i7 7700K 4.20 GHz Processor - 32GB Memory - (onboard video), Asus PCI Sound Card - iGPU - Two Twin esata 2TB External Drives. And for other software: Two Mac Pro Desktops with PCI & PCIe Soundcards & nVidia GeForce Graphics Cards - Mimimum memory of 16GB with #10 2TB esata Twin External Drives.

Hi Mike

It should not be necesary to de-activate again as the Computer ID the program is registered with should still be the same, however if you want to de-activate, you can, it does not harm anything.

Hi

The licencing of Movie Studio (MMS) allows for installation on 2 computers, if you have not used the second activation slot, you can install on the new computer while keeping the installation on the old computer - recommended until the new computer and the MMS installation has been checked thoroughly and where necessary settings adjustments made in .

If you know the specification of the new computer please post it, we may be able to advise you on settings for optimum performance.

If you have not decided on the computer components yet, would you like advice for system components?

The existing computer will be dismantled, so deactivation on this system would be preferred. The new system is as follows:

ASUS ROG Strix Z590-E Gaming Wifi motherboard

Intel I9 11900K 3.5GHz - 5.0GHz OC cpu (liquid cooled)

(4x16) 64GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3600MHz dram

(1) 500GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD

(2) 1TB Samsung 860 EVO SSD

Asus ROG Strix Gaming RTX 3060 12GB DDR6 graphics card

Hi

A very good choice of components.

A few pointers that may help:

Check the the Intel integrated GPU is not disabled in the BIOS by the RTX 3060 - it should not be, however one can never be sure it does not happen. MMS will take advantage of both GPU's.

Magix recommend using the Gaming drivers (GRD) for Nvidia cards.

In the MMS Program settings, Device options tab I use the Nvidia GPU for the Import, Processing and Export options - this combination works best for me, depending on your style of movie you may find different combinations of UHD 750/RTX work better for you.
