Recording from a camera download

I am using Movie Edit Pro plus 2019. I am operating on a windows 10 system on my computer.

I am trying to record onto my program from a friends tape camera. This is something I have done before, but not for a couple of years. my computer recorgnises the camera. on the program. The first section of the record window, which says " Select DV device driver" also shows the details of the camera. I am getting an error message which says "Could not connect to selected device". if I click ok or X the record section of the program closes. Any ideas, as I need my friend to assist in filming the School nativity on the coming Thursday.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

. . . . "Select DV device driver" . . . .error message which says "Could not connect to selected device" . . . .

Does your computer have a IEEE 1394 (Firewire) card installed - if not then you cannot use the DV device driver option by Firewire.

An alternative is a USB video capture device (dongle) and connecting it to the Composite and audio socket of the camera - this is usually a 3.5mm plug with three rings and a tip for connections on one end and three cinch (RCA) plugs yellow/red/white on the other - there should be a cable with the camera.

When using a dongle you select the Analog option for the recording source.
