Recording jumps to first movie.

I was about to attempt summarising the outstanding audio recording issues I've raised recently in a fresh post, to consolidate the discussions. But I've just encountered a fresh topic!

I opened a new project, and added one extra empty movie tab. Nothing in either movie. In movie #1 I then recorded a short clip with my AKG mic. The resultant (single) WAV in track 1 played OK, whatever track I placed it in.

(That's in contrast to recording in the project I've just finished. In that, a new recorded WAV plays back differently depending on which track I moved it to. But I'll come back to that in another post...)

Anyway, I then switched to movie #2 to make another recording. But as soon as I clicked the Record button, MEP 216 jumped back to movie #1 and started recording there!

Added a third movie and attempted to record there, with same result: jumped to movie 1.

Repeated after an MEP restart, still the same.

Repeated with MEP Premium/2017.

Can anyone reproduce please? Can't see any design reason?

Hi Terry

I can replicate this if I literally follow your wording above.

To get it to record on the next movie, you must close the recording dialog, switch to the next movie, then click the record button.

The behaviour is because the opening of the recording dialog picks up the current active movie - this is demonstrated by the default name supplied for the audio file.

Hi John,

Many thanks, understood. I wasn't optimistic about getting a solution tonight. (Sending from iPad, single malt alongside, toggling between Newsnight, Question Time, CNN and Fox.)

Hi John,

One I've never tried before, bought on impulse at Marks & Spencers. Quite pleasant.
