Recording my voice not working now

palmbeach wrote on 3/5/2012, 8:06 PM

I currently use an older version of Magix MusicMaker (15) and I basically use it to put together my own "radio" station, with songs and jingles and my own voice all on separate tracks. I am essentially playing "DJ" with my program. I have a digital Logitech headphone/microphone plugged into a USB drive. Anyway, I am still able to hear my tracks through the headphones...but today, I'm not able to record my voice anymore. When I hit the red dot, I get the basic menu...and everything looks normal like it always has. The correct mic is plugged in and selected, but I see no volume controls when I speak. I stop recording to double check my track, and it is silent. What could have possibly happened from yesterday to today? The only thing I DID do differently was use a pair of earbuds last night to listen to some stuff, but didn't use a USB to plug them in obviously. Whatever help would be much appreciated!

Thanks so much, ERIC

Hi

You don't say which version of windows you have - however open the windows  Control Panel find the Sound option and open it.

Check that your USB headset/mic is the default/preferred device for playback and recording.

If you have a check box(usually bottom left of this window) 'Use only default/preferred devices' then make sure it is checked or, if no box, right click the device and set as default.

Thanks, John.

All is enabled on my end...my mic is the selected device. This is depressing........ I hear fine from my headphones.... It can't be a cord problem, or I wouldn't be able to hear. I wonder if there is a problem with the Magix program? Another person right after me posed a question about not being able to select their microphone? Are we all connected in some way through online global networking? I tried out my ear buds and found I could record (faintly) onto Magix. It's just this microphone, I guess. I have Windows 7. It was fine just 2 days ago. Errr...

Again, thank you for the advice.
