Recording seperate tracks individually

Hey guys just a quick question I hope.  I am using the free download of music maker currently but also have the full version.  I am trying to record a basic 3 track recording (guitar, vocal, bass).  I recording a track with guitar and vocals.  Works great.  Then tried to go back in and record bass on to a seperate track. (used playback into headphones from the headphone jack on the computer)  It did record it sepratly but the playback which was in head phones of the original track is now part of the bass track.  So now I have a guitar/vocal track and a guitar/voacal/bass.  What I can not figure out is how to get the bass track seprate where that is all you hear.   Then go back and re record the vocal and guitar tracks using the first track as a template so to speak.  End result being 3 different channels with only the single instrument on them.  Is this possible to do while using the playback function while recording.  Basic information of my set up.  I am using a mackie mixer going out of the board red and white audio cable to 1/8 inch pluged in to the mic port on my sound card.  The sound card is an SB Audigy 2 Audio [DCCO].  Hope this is enough information but let me know if you need more

Basicaly, you ARE recording your playback because MM can only do ONE or the other.....so when you are playing back your vocal and guitar...USING MM, and then at the same time you are recording, MM also "hears" that and records it also.  You need to playback from a different source, record your bass in MM,  along with the different source and then you will have your three separate tracks that then you can play back as ONE song.

I had the same issue because I thought MM was a wonderful do everything program for $75.  WRONG !

But it still a pretty trick program for $75.  Hope I helped.  Good Luck
