Recording to Magix Music Maker 17 via Yamaha PSR E203

I am trying to record live music from my yamaha onto magix music maker 17. I have connected the midi cables to my computer via the connecting USB cord. My PC acknowledges the presence of the new harware. I have attempted several recording methods and the program is still not recording sound from the keyboard. A clear, and detailed explanation would be appreciated as I have never done this before and would eventually like to add original vocals as a wedding gift in September. Thank you.

Believe yu have to open a Midi file to record off your keyboard.  This question has been asked several times so you might do a search of the community and find a better/clearer answer, also the Pdf help files have a lot of information on the subject and if tahe wedding is in sept. you do have the time to educate yourself a little

Hi

I presume you are trying record the audio output from the Yamaha and not using it as a midi controller.

If so you should be using the Audio out of the keyboard into the Line in (blue socket) on your PC or go through a USB Audio to Digital converter.

I solved this issue myself tonight. I updated the drivers for the midisport midi cable, although I'm not sure that's what did the trick. In one of these questions/answers, someone posted a pdf file that was pretty helpful. It's called how-to-connect-keyboard-piano-with-computer-ii. It led me to go into the MM17 program settings, then the audio/midi tab, and change the input device from whatever it was (probably blank) to Midisport Uno In (the name of my midi cable). Then I was able to play my keyboard and record it.
