Reinstall of MEP 2022

Greetings all,

Son number 2 has built me a new computer; nothing wrong with it and all loads well

The first program I loaded in was MEP2022. I added all the extra contect etc., and MEP worked like a dream and was blisteringly fast with a sample encode.

I thought i would try out "Edit in Photo Designer" and all works as usual however when I tried "Edit wave externally" with the default Magix Music Editor there was a problem

I must admit that I rarely use edit Wave externally - not this year yet - and I do have another audio program I can use but it's too overcomplicated for video purposes. After an hour or so downloading and addiing content and testing it all I'm feeling slightly miffed.

Now the question is not "why has this happened?" or something similar because, frankly, that would be ridiculous (wouldn't it?), it's "do I really have to uninstall and then re-install MEP to get this to work?" Any ideas or do I really already know the obvious?

Hi Andy,

I have had this problem in the past but it was resolved at the end by new versions. At the time, I resolved it by pointing to another copy of ME3. Do you have other Magix programs that have ME3, like Music Maker? Older versions of MEP?

Do a search for MusicEditor.exe. If you find one, change the external audio editor in the Program Settings to that one.

Running latest update. Are the audio files part of a video clip or separate, as in music track?

Wow John, why didn't I think of that? I've got a copy of Music Maker and many different versions of MEP so I'll give that a go tomorrow.

Greetings Ray, our posts must have crossed. Todays failed test was with an imported wav file. As I say, I don't use it often mainly because most types of audio editing are handled by the simple audio cleaning in MEP.

I couldn't wait. The excitement was too great. I loaded up MEP 2017, transferred the Music Editor folder to the 2023 folder and it worked.

One thing I'd forgotten about. When I uninstalled 2017 the pop-up window asked if I wanted to install something else MEP related, repair the MEP installation or indeed delete the program.

Why on Earth has Magix got rid of those options?
