Can't say for sure, but it's likely that the time stamp has been applied by your camera, not by MEP during the import. Is it present if you view your clips with say Windows Media Player? I've got a little 'mini spy cam' that has an annoying yellow timestamp -- I generally crop to eliminate it.

Another option would be to apply an area of pixilation to mask the stamp like they do on faces of people being taken to court.
