removing the empty space at the end of my comp

simon5 wrote on 2/7/2013, 12:48 AM

Hello,

This is the second time I have asked this question.  My challenge:

When I create a Composition, or song in MM2013 I always end up with 'dead-space' at the end of the tracks. Apparently the cursor creates space when I get to the end of my work area and add some more soundpools.

What is happening is I am trying to export the song or comp and it is stretching it to the length of the track timeline.

Please do not tell me Cut and Paste as an answer. I have tried numerous ways to use the Cntrl Alt and X method and it is still there. Please if you know how to remove that dead space to make my comp it's actual length intended. "The length of the Yellow bar"  Please share with me the exact steps to do so. I can not locate it in the Help PDF.

If I understand you correctly, there are two extremely simple ways to correct the situation.

First, simply double-click on the end marker in the timeline and it will automatically snap to the end of the arrangement.

Second, "click and drag" the end marker to the end of the arrangement.

NO that is is not the answer. I have 'snapped' to the markers. Yet, Magix still will take my 18 second com and stretch it to 44 seconds. Due to the space left in the timeline. Even though the timeline shows 18 seconds in my view, it still wants to export as a 44 second comp. I just did it. One would think Magix user's would come across this on their first comp, yet oddly enough it is nowhere addressed in their PDF documentation. Kinda like a Reply button in a forum. Everyone else uses a reply button but Magix has thought to use Answer, when really it is a reply. Must be a language barrier... I still have not answer to my question.

How to Remove the dead space in my comp so my mp3 export is at the length I want not the left over space from removing tracks or how space is almost always added to a comp when adding a soundpool at the end of the comp and timeline view..... Go try it. Make a 15 second comp but first make it 25 seconds, cut the 10 seconds from the end via a mouse click and delete....Then hit export and check out your parameters and or export... if it is like mine 2013 it will come out at 25 seconds. Even if you check the box Only export the selected work areas in the pop up dialogue box when instructing to export. Frustrating as Hell...Spending hours on such a trivial and probably a common question.

Hi

I have followed your instructions to the letter and find no problem here.

Try zooming in on the end of the track to see if you have a stray object which is making MMM think the track is longer.

@John Baker thanks for hopping and trying to help. I looked for stray artifacts. (None) I have double clicked my end point which does two things. Either snap to my comp if repeated it snaps to the length of the timeline.

This Screen Grab shows the Grab bars at end point. I am not sure if you can see the export size states 44.1 seconds yet the comp is only 24 seconds. Notice the box is populated for only exporting selection of bars...

If you know where Magix hid the instruction to this issue please tell me the page in the PDF or send me a direct link to troubleshoot this..

Thanks in advance

Simon

Hi

The image is not too clear however looking at the top yellow bar it looks like it says 24 bars not seconds.

To change the yellow bar to read in milliseconds right click just below the yellow bar and select the milli second option.

The yellow bar will display in seconds.

John,

Too funny. I was pulling my hair out, spent hours on this and it was in Bars not Seconds.... No wonder it was exporting so long....(shaking my head)

Thanks for noticing "glad I posted a pic"
