Rending speed very slow

Ken-Coughlin wrote on 9/2/2021, 12:23 PM

I just upgraded from Movie Studio 13 to Movie Studio 18. I've done my first edit, and I'm in the process of exporting my first movie.

On 13, this movie would have rendered in about 45 minutes. This export has been running for 40 minutes, and estimates 2:11 Hours remaining. The movie is only 35 minutes long, yet the Movie Time is estimated at over 9 hours.

@Ken-Coughlin

Hi and welcome to the forum

We need more information:

  1. Your computer specification - see this topic for details of what is required and please quote the processor and graphics card/chipset make/models in full?
  2. Which format and resolution and preset are you using for export?
  3. What is the resolution and format of your source videos?
  4. Have you used any effects in the project, if so which ones.

I was mistaken about the movie time, it was estimating 9 minutes, when I first posted, not 9 hours, but it has still taken over 2 hours, and is estimating 35+ minutes left.

I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong.

Hi Ken and welcome to these user to user forums.

Exactly which Intel processor? I'm assuming an I7 but which generation?

Estimated export times go up and down depending on load at a specific time in the project. Some processes and effects can be very processor intensive as can some export resolutions or file formats when read or exported to.

Are both GPUs enabled in the bios? Do both GPUs show up in the program setup or Task Manager when running Movie Studio 18?

Ray.
