repeated "Building frame-table for quick MPEG access…"

Using MEP pro 2013 Plus, I have a big project with footage from various HD cameras on lots of tracks most of which are Muted. I also export to mpeg2 files and reimport. Some of the cklips are small parts of big files (4GB). Save produces the message "Building frame-table for quick MPEG access…" repeatedly, as does close after a save. Moving the timeline cursor also often invokes similar messages. It would be helpful if I knew what file it was working on, and why does it need to create these files when closing? For a program which purports to be very fast, waiting ages for these messages to finish does not make for rapid edits. Playing off the timeline can also be suspended while it creates these files for fast access. It can be very frustrating.

Hi,

Have you tried enabling the option Program Settings > Video/Audio > Automatically create frametable during import ?

Hi

. . . . also export to mpeg2 files and reimport . Some of the cklips are small parts of big files (4GB) . . . .

That should not be necessary - you can save a lot of effort and time because MEP is a non destructive editor and you can select portions of a large clip using the preview window and setting In / Out points and then add only this section to the timeline.

See Data selection using the preview monitor in the installed pdf manual.

How do 7you think I get a small clip from a big file other than by previewing and dragging the ranged area onto the timeline. The Building Frame-table happens before I can import so don't think the option setting makes any difference. I thi nk it is something to do with memory storage for thes fast access files, and they keep getting thrown away so need to be regenerated as my work tries to progress. It gets worse the longer I work on some projects. I don't think MEP takes account of muted tracks or ranges - it just does all clips on the timeline that is displayed or about to be played, or so it seems.
