Reset Issue

I am extremely angry right now but I will try and be polite.

After having issues with crackling when exporting all of a sudden, which I already have a thread open for (which was of no help whatsoever), I decided to try clicking on the reset button under program settings in an attempt to restore factory settings and hopefully cure the problem.

I now find that I have lost ALL of my work. EVERY song apart from 4 random ones that are half-done. Then when I try to open the .bak file, it opens in MM17Pro instead and does not restore ANYTHING.

I am at my wit's end with this software- can someone at least tell me how to get my project files back? This is ridiculous.

Hi

I have answered in your previous question on this topic - ignore the reply if you wish as it was a different way of resetting the software.

A reset of MMM should not delete your work - it will however reset the folder paths in the programs settings - if you customised these then you will have to put them back to the locations you were using before, it will also reset any 'remembered' projects which are in other folders, in this case reopening the project from its current location will restore the 'remembered location'.

If the projects have totally gone and you have lost other files as well, then that suggests that there may be a bigger issue -  for example the hard drive is beginning to fail or corrupt or there is a virus on your computer - unlikely if you have a good A/V program.

. . . . when I try to open the .bak file . . .  - are you using Windows Explorer and double clicking the backup file ? - If so and it is opening in MMM 17 then that means you have another problem with the file associations which is a Windows issue.

Have you run any tools to clean up your computer hard drive or any registry cleaners?

Thanks for being polite despite your anger and frustration - it is very annoying when something like this happens.

I found the files, thank you for your help! Was very scared when I thought I had lost them! The fuzzy/hissing noise at 0:29 on my projects is still a problem though :(
