The display option isn't going to do anything to your clip so just go ahead a try each. If you're worried about messing up a project then start a new one just for your tests.

I'm not avoiding giving a specific answer as there are other variables such as whether or not you have chosen to show audio on a separate track etc (done under Program settings -- 'Y' key shortcut).

You don't say what MEP version you're using, but in all recent versions you can also get it automatically by setting this option:

Make sure you are right clicking on the audio track and not the video track.
